In honor of Hakmusic.com surpassing 2,500 unique visitors and DoReMi surpassing 600 plays, making it the most watched Hakmusic produced video (trailing only the award winning "Free" produced by the Kennedys), and in hoping that you will find it a fun thing to do, I offer up the first ever HAKMUSIC VIDEO CHALLENGE, with a **special prize** - a CD of music videos - bigger and at a higher resolution than can be shown through the web - from the Hakmusic archives. The challenge is easy to play and includes a Moxy Fruvous question. If you haven't seen the videos yet, you can see them at www.hakmusic.com. For DoReMi, follow the Nields link. If you have a 56k modem, right click on the video link and select "save target as" to save the video to your hard drive. It will take a while to download, so be prepared to do something else in the meantime. If you have a cable modem and plan on watching more than once or twice, please download the file to your hard drive as well. WARNING: spoiler information follows. If you believe that all the artists in the video are really singing along with Do Re Mi, or don't want additional informtion that may shatter the illusion that they all are, please don't read anything down below here. : ) OK, for anyone who is still reading, I've been asked a number of times what songs are actually being played by the other artists in the video, and by the Nields on the main stage (and the song where Dave is on the grass). Believe it or not, they are not all actually singing DoReMi; shocking, I know, those snazzy special effects really do a number. : ) Anyway, here is a little challenge to see who can guess the most songs. Everyone who answers at least one question correctly will be entered into a drawing to win the video CD. The more questions you get right, the more entries you will have, and the more likely you will be to win. So, for instance, if you get questions 1 and 3 right, and two out of three in quesiton 5, you will get 4 entries. Anyone who answers all 6 questions correctly (must have at least 2 right on question 5) will get 5 bonus entries added on. If you have no idea, just guess, everyone else will be doing the same. Make sure you send all replies to me personally at harry@hakmusic.com !!! Do not hit "reply" or it will go to the list. What song is actually being played by the other bands in the middle section of the video (between 1:40 and 2:25): 1) Moxy Fruvous : 2) Eddie Fron Ohio : 3) Dar Williams : 4) Tom Landa and the Paperboys : and 5) Name three of the songs that the Nields are playing in parts of the video (not including DoReMi) - there are five songs altogeather that this footage is taken from (worth 1 to 3 entries, one entry for each rigth answer): Bonus Question: 6) What do the following 2 songs: the one where Robbie from EFO is clapping his hands over his head, and the one that Katryna, Nerissa, and Fruvous are singing togeather at the workshop stage with bubbles, have in common with DoReMi and the song that the Paperboys are playing in their clip. !!!!! PLEASE remember to send your replies to me personally, not to your list!! send to: harry@hakmusic.com !!!!! Entries will be accepted for one week. One entry per person. if you have any questions, please write me. Thanks! Harry p.s. my apologies to those of you who are on multiple lists and have gotten this a few times. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Just wanted to let you all know that Jian's show in rochester last night was great. A few of my favorite moments..two of which occured durring his playing of Sad Girl. The first few chords he decided to sing Queen instead of Sad girl and looked to his band members to join in, like he's accustomed to when playing shows, fruvous or 3 song circus, and it took them a few minutes and a "you guys know the chords, right?" till they did. Once the song ( Bohemium Rhapsody <--- spelling is really wrong) was in progress the entire audience joined in and he eventually laughed and said that people are going to leave and say that the best part of the whole show was a crappy version of a queen song sung by the audience..lol.. well he eventually did get to singing sad girl and in the middle stated that he felt like Paul Macartney (<---again, spelled wrong).. " I left the Beatles and joined wings but I'm still singing Let it be" lol. He then got into his Star Bucks story and letter and some idiot in the back decided to shout out, "You're Boring us, stop talking. We came to hear you sing, not talk"..well you can guess the response that got out of Jian... he got mad, with reason, and snapped back wiht something to the effect of..Well this is what I do, I don't just sing. I am one of those people who like to get my views out in the world about things I believe in...then he smiled and said, and then I'll sing alittle. :) We all cheered, the guy shut up. Oh, and Jian also asked us if it was a rochesterian dialect that we all said his name like G - Anne, instead of Jian, (with a [j] glide for those of you who know IPA) or if it was just Joey from WBER. We insisted it was Joey. :) Martina was incredible as well, even though she was a little under the weather last night. Anyways, the show was great and I am still enjoying his new stuff and can't wait to hear what he ends up recording. Talk to you all later!
