Once again, I bring happy news from maplemusic.com... : ) Potter, who really wishes that New Hampshire wasn't so damn far away from Toronto *** Listen to the Radio When Jason Collett of the group Bird took part in Andy Stochansky's Songwriters in the Round earlier this year, he knew it was a magical experience that he couldn't let slip away. Drawing on observations, utilizing his contacts and with much planning, Collett carefully assembled Radio Monday - a collaborative jam session that samples the songwriting talents of contemporary Canadian music. "There's been a real renaissance of songwriting in the Canadian music scene," said Collett. "Right now a lot of people are going to check out shows. I've been going to see shows that are sold-out all the time." The Monday sessions debut April 9th at Ted's Wrecking Yard with Collett serving as host. Appearing that evening will be Jim Bryson, Ron Hawkins, Glen Milchem (The Swallows) and Kyp Harness. Each evening will be a roundtable of sorts with artists performing one after the other. Seven Radio Mondays will run over April and May. Kurt Swinghammer appears at Radio Monday on April 16th. He describes these roundtable sessions as especially entertaining. "I approach it by not having a set list," said Swinghammer. "I try to respond to the previous singer and I go with that. So that's why I like these evenings. It makes it all more communal." Collett is currently putting the finishing touches on the May roster for Radio Monday. Where: Ted's Wrecking Yard - 549 College St. Toronto When: Doors open 8:30 Show at 9:30. Tickets $8.00 at the door and in advance here at MapleMusic. That's just good advice unless you never download anything new ... It's nice to have friend(s) that tell you when they're buying a new hard drive. Before they install their OS, do a low level format on it, and copy your drive to it. Then disconnect yours, and boot from that brand new drive. If that's working, then format your drive and reinstall the OS from CDs. Then copy everything you need back to your reformatted drive. Boot from it and play a bit, then shut it down cold. Turn it on again and play with it again. Once you're satisfied, reformat your friend's brand new drive and return it with a promise to reciprocate.
