And whenever I introduce people to Fruvous, one of the first sentences out of my mouth is usually, "but this is a cd, which is good, but doesnt always do them justice...you just have to see them live to really get the full effect.." On the other hand, I find Thornhill to be a good cd to start people with if most of their music isn't really underground because it's more cohesive. Then, once they're more into it, ya move into some of the different stuff. (I say different like any of it's the same thing..Ha.) And yet, in response to.. <> I don't know...With me it really depends what I'm in the mood for. Bargainville is obviously less polished and produced than Thornhill, and sometimes that's good and sometimes you just don't really wanna hear that sort of "inferior quality". (Don't bite me, that's the best phrase I could think of right now:) As far as Thornhill vs. say a live show, well it's kinda hard to compare, ya know? It's two completely different things, almost like two different bands and you like one more than the other. It's early and I'm not making much sense. My apologies. :) - --------> Ln ------------------------------ Date: 06 Feb 2001 12:16:45 GMT From: fruwench@aol.com (ladywench) Subject: Re: OPEN MIC @ FRUCON IV *In a fit of cowardice ladywench comments that if anyone REALLY wants to perform, she would be willing to discuss giving up her slot.* ladywench FruSpace - We came, we saw, we slept on the floor. My particular gauge is the way the songs sounded live versus > record, which both parties could be responsible for... Well, the range of things that can possibly be done live is so limited. There's not a lot of room or even time for creative producing of live stuff unless you pay a horde of people to do various jobs realtime. Katie, as far as Message on Moon and the acapella live version, I think I remember some band member saying that they didn't have time to find a version they really liked in time to get it recorded for the album, but with some road play and more time, they were more pleased with the acapella version as suitably Fruvoused. No references, so I may be wrong. - Chad ------------------------------ Date: 3 Feb 2001 08:11:44 GMT From: presam0@wfu.NOSPAM.edu (Adam 'Plastic Cup' Prestin) Subject: MFSW: Round 6 (semifinal) Results! I just downloaded Natalia off of Napster- and it's the version from the Bottom Line 7/25 show, which I was at...it's absolutely great to hear this song again! So now my question is- since this show seemingly is complete SOMEWHERE out there...I'm looking for the other three solo tracks, which, as I remember, were: Dave: Every Grain of Sand Mike: Lenny Bruce Murray: Love Set Fire I'm especially looking for Dave's version of Every Grain of Sand, which was really beautiful. If anybody has these on mp3 and would be nice enough to send me them or let me know where I could get them, I'd be really happy and I'd appreciate it tons.
