(And > our first headlining gig there, huzzah for us.) Paul, I saw that you guys were playing the ark when we were there for Uncle Bonsai on the 31st. I was really excited to see that you'd gotten a headlining gig there. I had sought out Dave Siglin after your gig with EFO and told him he REALLY had to have you guys back as headliners. He gave me somewhat annoyed sounding grunt in acknowledgment so i had no idea whether he agreed with me or not. Anyway, I'm glad to see that maybe a few people bugged him, or, despite his demeanor that night, he really liked you guys. In any case it doesn't matter. Now you've got the gig and I anticipate it will be great fun. We'll be there. A.J. I don't know if you actually read the NG or not, but what the heck, I think at this point we can use all the traffic we can get. :) - -- "...I believe the results of focusing our attention and energy on teaching children to read and having an education system that's responsive to the child and to the parents, as opposed to mired in a system that refuses to change, will make America what we want it to be a more literate country and a hopefuller country." - --G.W. The Ark generally asks for a canned food donation for it's "Take a Chance Tuesday" performances. And folks at the Ark are expecting a nice, comfortable crowd for this DVN gig. Yay! Yeah. So, a couple Cleveland-area fruheads'll be at this gig, too. Michiganders don't have exclusive rights. ;) And, of course, The Ark is simply an incredible place to hear folks. Right, Joe? ;) ciao, donna ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Jan 2001 23:44:31 -0000 From: navratil@dslnorthwest.net (Joe Navratil) Subject: Re: OT: Da Vinci's Notebook in Ann Arbor, MI On Tue, 23 Jan 2001 17:12:07 -0500, Donna Hunt wrote: > >And, of course, The Ark is simply an incredible place to hear folks. > >Right, Joe? ;) If you're trying to make me jealous & bitter that I moved away, I should let you know that Paul's post already accomplished that :-P :-) Seriously, anyone who is even remotely in the area (and I define that term extremely loosely... Boston is just slightly outside of "the area"), check it out. Not only because DVN puts on an awesome show (hey Paul, if you're still reading, whatever happened with the fish sticks in the church?), but also because Take A Chance Tuesdays at the Ark are *awesome*. Among others, I found out about Peter Mulvey thanks to a Take A Chance Tuesday. I've also seen a number of acts that I never thought would end up in Michigan (Arrogant Worms, anyone?) thanks to Flem/Tam. Yeah, that's right. Take A Chance Tuesdays actually made me a fan of a booking agency. Flem/Tam rocks. Siigh.. :-) (And they never got back to me about my question about an email calendar of their acts' gigs... darn.) -Joe ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Jan 2001 23:26:26 GMT From: khellewe@uoguelph.ca (Kyle Hellewell) Subject: Re: OT: Da Vinci's Notebook in Ann Arbor, MI On Tue, 23 Jan 2001 17:12:07 -0500, Donna Hunt wrote: > >Yeah. According to my CC statement, I only saved $1 on the cost of door tickets by purchasing them at ticketweb. Maybe other Canadians would rather see that $1 go direct to the committee instead of funding CC profits on exhange rates and ticketweb coffers. BTW... *still* don't know how many tickets have been sold for the con.
