The show was amazing as you might expect. I thought the place would be crawling with Fruhead but other that the person I went with there were only 3 other Fruheads. Did people not know about the show? I was really suprised. Feanole aka DrWhoFru ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 07 Jan 2001 06:41:19 GMT From: "A.J. And another general request (since I guess we're making them): For your next post, could you change the topic to read "OT: don't use special characters" instead of listing it under "frucon update?" That has nothing to do with netiquette. Well, maybe it doesn't, butcha know, it's still a valid point. You *are* going to encounter umlauts here. No matter how many times you tell people not to use them, not all of them will get your post, not all of them will read it, and some of them will be newbies. I'd really hate to think that all those "How the heck do you make that little dotty thing on the U?" threads from the heyday of this newsgroup were of absolutely no use. :) Kath ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 08 Jan 2001 02:16:28 GMT From: dalevy@my-deja.com Subject: Re: ack! already! I now know how to make umlauts in, like, 10 different ways on multiple vowels! (not to mention accents grave and aigu, and circonflexes, and the pounds sterling symbol, and all sorts of other alt-code arcana, just because once you start playing with the keypad it's kind of addictive. :) ) But Vika's point is well taken. Sometimes those alt codes translate as multi-character strands that make reading difficult. And I probably shouldn't have made such an extensive faux-html post the other day either. If you're not staying at the hotel, I don't believe you're permitted to use the parking. As far as music venues go, a good rule of thumb is this: you'll be paying. Park on the street if you're cheap and adventurous. Americans don't really need to worry about parking tickets.
