I'll try. I have a hard time remembering exactly where, street-wise, the Colony is. Luckily, most of you know where it is since you were there last year. Someone will most likely post the address here once I'm done ranting anyway. :) This year, the Con and the concert are on the same street! Granted, it's a bit of a streetcar ride, but the Great Hall (where the Con will be) is located on Queen Street West (Queen and Dovercout is the official intersection, if you're TTC'ing it's just past Ossington) and the concert is at the Opera House, which is on Queen Street East! How easy! How fortuitous! :D Kath ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 06 Jan 2001 02:44:24 -0500 From: Donna Hunt Subject: Re: OT: Metaphysical Manifestations! Cheap rates and *I* get a commission! ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 06 Jan 2001 15:10:59 GMT From: "A.J. LoCicero" Subject: Proposed Frucon weekly update Ok guys, we know you are all getting itchy for all the info you can get on Frucon 4, so in addition to the website at http://frucon.tripod.com we are going to start posting weekly (we hope) updates here on AMMF. Here is the first one: 1) Con Ticket Update: We're off to a strong start of Frucon IV ticket sales. If the current pace continues, it is possible that our capacity will be sold out before the event. If that happens, there will be no tickets available at the door. If there are tickets remaining to be purchased at the door, they will be CDN$20, a chunk up from the discounted advance price of US$9. To purchase tickets, go to Ticketweb at http://www.ticketweb.com/user/?region=on&query=detail&event=186822. There are also options there for package deals of con admission combined with a Friday night pub gathering and/or a Sunday morning frubrunch. 2) Children: Kids 12 and under are free to the con, however they do count against our maximum capacity, so the committee would appreciate it if you would email us at fruconkids@yahoo.com and let us know how many children will be coming with you. 3) Show Tickets: Tickets to the fruvous show at the Opera House are available through Ticketmaster Canada. The URL is https://ticketing.ticketmaster.com/cgi/purchasePage_ca.asp?event_id=100031967F146CB4&event_code=EOHSB17 4) Hotel Rooms: The official Fr|Con hotel is the Toronto Colony Hotel located at Dundas and Chestnut. We have a special rate arranged. The Fr|Con rate runs from Thursday night to Monday morning. Single/Double: CDN$109/night Triple: CDN$139/night Quad CDN$149/night IMPORTANT--YOU MUST FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS TO GET THE RATE: Call 416-977-0707, the LOCAL Colony reservations desk, and ask for the Fr|Con rate. THE PEOPLE AT THE 1-800 NUMBER DO NOT HAVE THE DETAILS ON THE FRUCON RATE. If you call the local number and they tell you there are no more rooms left, e-mail the committee (frucon@egroups.com) and we will see if rooms can be added to the block. 5) Frucon Shirts: Brent and Maryann Miller have once again designed Frucon Shirts. The Shirts are now on sale. For info go to http://members.home.net:80/zone5/frucon4shirtPlaceOrder.html You MUST order your shirts by midnight, January 18. That is when the order must be placed, so do not delay! 6) Fr|Miles Bowling: For those who collected 30 Fr|Miles and intend to go bowling with Fr|vous, bowling will take place in Toronto during the weekend of Fr|Con. This is the only bowling opportunity that there will be. While the Committee is NOT organizing the bowling, Fr|vous has asked us to help them compile the list of Fr|Miles holders who intend to participate, so we have set up an e-mail address: bowlingIV@hotmail.com For now, just name, e-mail address and "Yes I have 30 Fr|Miles stamps" will do. Hope that helps. What else do you guys want/need to know? A.J. "I am mindful of the difference between the executive branch and the legislative branch.
