A big number of the races were blowouts. There were a large number of comments regarding the MBLABOA/KoS pairing, so I decided to get rid of the Cranky Monarch version of the latter song in the next round and replace it with a second life for MBLABOA. We'll see how far it gets now. I'll have the new song pairings out later tonight or early tomorrow for your perusal and voting. Hopefully nothing is missing. Keep in mind when you're voting: you aren't voting on x version of a song versus y version of another. It should be your favorite renditions, live, or album, of either. In general, which song do ya like more? I've tried to make the song pairings a little more fair in this coming round. I honestly can't judge the true "fan favorite" tunes, aside from a few. A lot of it is personal preference, coupled with how I think people are going to vote. There are probably a few pairings out of the 32 that one, two, or a hell of a lot of people will be against, but now that the bracket is set, there's no option of me sneaking a song into the next round (I felt mblaboa deserved it.) Results, in the order the songs appeared on the ballot @ denotes winner. - ------------------------- @Stuck in the 90's: 16 Hate Letter: 7 @River Valley: 20 Entropy:3 @Bittersweet: 21 The Mitosis Waltz: 1 @King of Spain:15 My Baby Loves a Bunch of Authors:8 Poor Mary Lane: 11 @Spiderman: 12 Follow the Road: 8 @Splatter Splatter: 13 @Guinea Pig: 13 You Can't Be Too Careful: 10 @Kick in the Ass: 16 Morphie: 7 @Big Fish: 20 When She Talks: 3 @Gulf War Song: 16 No No Raja: 5 @Johnny Saucep'n: 12 Ash hash: 8 The Ballad of Cedric Fr|vous: 7 @Heatseeker Boy: 16 Jenny Washington: 3 @You Will Go to the Moon: 20 Beware the Killer Tents: 7 @Misplaced: 16 @Pisco Bandito: 13 I Will Hold On: 10 @Lee: 19 The Norbals!: 3 Voter Comments: 1. YCBTC vs Guinea pig: "(but I don't really like either of these)" KoS vs. MBLABOA "(Hey, why are two #1 seeds meeting in the first round!)" "(this is an interesting matchup - I would think that both of these songs should have a chance of getting farther than this in the competition. But oh well.)" "Argh!! Probably two of my top five (KOS and MBLABOA). How can I POSSIBLY chose?" 2. Why I voted for X Stuck in the 90s vs Hate Letter: Next to Stuck in the 90s, voted for Hate letter: "(age built in)" Marked next to When She Talks: (this song is terrible) Gulf War vs. No No Raja next to Gulf War: "(one of my favorites)" Pisco vs. IWHO Next to IWHO: "(so cheesy, but I love it)" Next to IWHO: "(if it's the early version, with all the backing vocals intact; otherwise, oooh, tough call)" Bittersweet vs Mitosis Waltz Next to bittersweet: (Best MF song ever, IMHO) Poor Mary lane vs. Spiderman Next to PML: "(very Beatle-esque to me)" Kick in the Ass vs. Morphie Next to KITA: (my co-workers think this my theme song) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Dec 2000 15:33:46 GMT From: brent_miller@my-deja.com Subject: Con Tickets A big thanks should go out to the FruCon4 Committee for lining up TicketWeb for the Con ticket sales. True, it is $9.75 Canadian. A heafty fee in any currency. Back in the 70's and early 80'S, the day's of vinyl LP's and 8-tracks, I worked in a record store. The service charge on the tickets I sold started at either .25" or .50" and people still complained. Here's another reality check, sale albums were $3.99.
