Tory Cassis Mike Errico Russell Wolff Susan Werner Sarah Harmer Martin Sexton (tho the Roch audience really ticked me off) Kurt Swinghammer (well, not the BEST hands down... but I really liked his stuff when he played in Rochester) I didn't see the Nields or EFO or Vance Gilbert or Kevin So open for Fruvous, but I have seen them and they are incredible. Sarah Slean is starting to grow on me... and i liked the Waltons :) Worst: Amy Rigby... ugh those "guys" in Columbus last Fall... yep, them Hillbilly Fag guys... They endangered their lives that night, I took it upon myself to make mention of a VERY angry woman hovering near stage ready to kill someone (you think I'm kidding??) to one of the big solid massive bouncers. He thought I was kidding... then glanced over, and decided to "be there" in case something happened. Didn't see Angry Salad open for Fruvous, but did see them open for Guster... my only comment about them is that their music all seemed the same... even their "ballads" sped up the the same boring tempo as their "upbeat" songs... but damn the lead singer is TALL! Amy Rigby... ...who was the bald guy that opened for Fruvous in Buffalo in Fall '97? I remember not liking him... Amy Rigby... SF They say that the Road to Hell is paved with good intentions... well, at least it will be a smooth ride - --me ____________________________________________________________________ Get your own FREE, personal Netscape WebMail account today at http://home.netscape.com/webmail ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 07 Nov 2000 14:33:16 GMT From: lilstinkee@my-deja.com Subject: Re: OT sorta: Opening acts FYI- Amy was never a member of the Smithereens, though members of the band have played with her. Yep-- That's what I remember hearing too and I thought that is what the blurb on FDC was about. Mike had said they did 40+ songs for Fruheads (similar to Jared on C) and that they joked about selling all 40 on FDC for about $500. Well, I'd say just go with the album tracks for now. Everyone has a good opportunity to hear them, and the rarities might cause a few upsets int the early rounds, but none of them are really going to go anywhere. Except maybe the Doug Flutie song. It could... go... all... the... way!!! Thought I'd add my stuff to the lists: Best opening acts: 1. Morley, opening for Neil Finn in 1998. They are a great band, very funky and different, with a world music sort of thing going. I have no idea if they are still around. 2. Johnny Favourite Swing Orchestra, opening for Colin James in 1998. It was a really good, energetic show that got the whole audience dancing around. 3. Susan Werner!! ('nuff said) 4. Great Big Sea opening for Barenaked Ladies, just before their first hit got on the airwaves. I had never heard of them before, and they blew me away with the sheer infectious fun of their set. 5. I also saw The Wallflowers opening for Chris Isaak several years ago, before anyone had heard of them. Not way up there with the above-mentioned artists, but I remember being pretty impressed. ...and my favourite Fruvous songs: King of Spain, Kick in the Ass (it just makes me laugh every single time) and Love Set Fire. have a lovely day, everyone, Sanjita ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 7 Nov 2000 23:06:53 -0500 From: "John Ryan" Subject: Re: like fruvous fans I'd love to see Sean again, just like I did last month at Arlene. Well if it matters, I saw TMBG in Chicago lately and thought it was a horrible show. The crowd was boring, the band didn't get them into the show, and their new music is quite bad. But that was just my impression of course :) j! - -- Jordan I. K.
