It's nice to hear that... I think that, although Dave is a fine musician, his work is way overrated and he is one of the most overrated musicians of my lifetime (save all the pop singers, etc.) I've heard some of his live stuff and have been most unimpressed. Simply put, it all sounds the same. The worst was their cover of Down On The Corner (I think) that I heard, which was insulting..they absolutely butchered it. Their "improv" does not impress me at all. Vertical Horizon is no better, except that they are not as popular. It's a shame that people are afraid to be "that guy who listens to the weird music." There wasn't anything particularly offensive about her (except that she was badly in need of some conditioner), she was just bloody boring. And her set went *way* over her alloted time, if I remember correctly. Best opening act: I'm either gonna have to go with Lisa's answer of Kevin So at the Birchmere, or go back to Peter Mulvey opening for Dar in '97. I'd rave about them for awhile, but I suspect I'd be preaching to the converted, and I'm too tired anyway. :) Carey _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. I think there was a time when anyone who even opened for Fruvous was considered sacred since Jian must have talked to them backstage or something. So even the mediocre-at-best people were raved about on the newsgroup. Fortunately that time has passed and people are brave enough to have opinions. Without opinions, we wouldn't get to read about how the Nields sounds like caterwauling, Jess Klein couldn't excite her way out of a wet paper bag, and Martina Sorbara couldn't enunciate multi-syllable words to save her life. - Chad ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 6 Nov 2000 10:02:17 -0800 (PST) From: Bonnie Conrad Subject: Re: OT sorta: Opening acts Ditto on Amy Rigby. Again, I'd guess one of two things. a) Fruhead Songs released as mp3's for everyone to hear through FDC b) In order to keep people's attention through the Hiatus no matter how long it is, some little tidbits will be released though FDC Just my guessing. The band has promised Fruhead Songs for so long, I don't think they'd not do them for people. So I'd lean towards a), but b) seems pretty possible to me. But that's all speculation.
