Donna, try reading the g'damned thread before you start throwing around accusations. If you look you will see that they mostly have talked about how =I= am front and center in the LN booklet. Not them. Now you notice I HAVEN'T been parading that fact up and down in front of anyone. I don't make a big deal out of it. It was cool to see, yeah, but it isn't any big deal. I happened to be close to the front for once, and it turned out that that was the show where they shot a lot of crowd pictures. So there I am! Yay. Didn't ask for it but I don't feel sorry about it. I figure that It is a nice perk for having followed them around all this time. > Is this what makes you so "in" with the band? Great Big Sea (my all-time favourites) - I also love their new CD, especially because I was in the audience for at least 6 of the tracks. Woo! The Punters - another rockin' band from Newfoundland Slainte Mhath - "celtic ecclectic" from Cape Breton Sarah Harmer, Jann Arden, Blue Rodeo, Guster, Damhnait Doyle, Vertical Horizon, Jackopierce, The Push Stars and Weeping Tile. That's just a small sampling of the stuff I listen to though. I've got pretty wide tastes in music. Everything from Irish jigs, to pop/rock, from jazz to even some klezma stuff (The Plaid Tongued Devils). I've also noticed that most of my music collection is Canadian. Nothing like homegrown talent I guess. *still waiting for Chapters to ship Live Noise to me - 3 weeks and counting* Cheers, Melissa :o) ______________ Visit the Slainte Mhath Message Board! http://disc.server.com/Indices/34760.html _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Forgotten what the spirit of Fruvous is about? Child: Tell us the story of the spirit of fruvous. Narrator: *sigh* again, hmmmm... some people have forgotten what the spirit of fruvous is all about, but I for one haven't forgotten. A long time ago, back in jolly ole England (that is, it was jolly before Richard inhabited it), there was the spirit. And the spirit was an unhappy spirit because he had gotten a bad rap from that Dicken's fellow. I mean, just because it was the dredded spirit of christmas future didn't mean that it was all about showing people horrible futures in order to make them make radical life changes for the better. Ever since the publicity of the whole 'christmas tale' had gotten out, there was little work for the spirit to do. People were too afraid of the dire consequences of being miserly. All its work now was showing people dead christmas trees and huge credit card bills, hardly the work of bonefied spirit. So the spirit decided, after eons of hanging out with his buddies past and present, it was time for a change. The spirit travelled far and wide looking for something that would be worthy work but few oppurtunities afforded it both the job satisfaction of being the spirit of christmas future (pre-dickens) or the notoriety (post-dickens). What a dilema! After wandering for what seemed like an eternity, the spirit decided to become the spirit of fruvous because it seemed like a worthy cause. The spirit of fruvous showed up the day the indy tape was created, in fact the spirit of fruvous was paramount to its success. It had cohabitated the bodies of four unsuspecting toronto street persuns and manipulated them like puppets. What fun! Making them sing and dance on a stage like marionetts. Years went by, oh those silly masses. Coming in concerts like church to spout out lyrics to songs like so much diatribe. Indoctrinated into the church of fruvous, conspiritors in the spirit's ultimate plan to make everyone happy. This was a long process but it was making progress, there would be no fighting cause thats not very friendly and not very friendly makes people unhappy. Now, since there was no fighting there could be no arguing, cause that just leads to fighting. Arguments could only be caused by opinions, so those had to go as well. "Can't be having that around here" the spirit laughed. Opinions, those are just the work of people with too many differences. So the spirit went about trying to remove those by having everyone try to think alike. "Why, they can wear shirts like uniforms and get everyone to listen to all the same bands!", thought the spirit. That was a start. It wasn't long before the spirit realized that it could make them read books that it wanted and avoid bad spirit entities (like that awful starbucks spirit - take that). Because in the end, all the church going masses decided that in order to be really fruvousy they would have to forgo using their own intellect in order to be perfectly happy with all those around them. It was all coming together so very nicely until... there were these other fruvous fans. these nasty fans whom only spoke up when there was some sort of conflict (if they hadn't started themselves). evil evil people who refused it seemed to be fruvousy, causing problems with their legalise and their logic. "Damn those meddling kids!" screamed the spirit. It has almost gotten away with it. And to add insult to injury, the spirit was then stabbed with the icy sword of sarcasm retrieved from the lady of the lake by richard of the room temperature beer drinkers. Chad of the really tall but some how never pictured then showed up to confound the spirit with silly tales and a shield of anti-spam. Before long, there were legions of these malicious "fans" who were threatening to up-end the harmony and cast everything into dischord. Unaware of all of this, the other spirits were growning mighty jealous of the fruvous spirit, so they began quitting their day jobs and possesing bands as well. The spirit of Guster and the spirit of the Nields (whom some adore and other think its more like the banchee of the Nields), it wasn't long before before there were spirit bands all over the place. The spirit of fruvous was no longer the only spirit band in town and this made the spirit quite unhappy (not to mention the dischord and choas and everything fruvousy going to hell in and handbasket), so the spirit decided to take a vacation. Child: what happened to the spirit of fruvous? Narrator: Well... some say that the spirit is just waiting for the right time to return, but some people say... that if on christmas day, you're not a good persun, you may get a glimpse of the spirit of fruvous, right before you're shown a horrible future and sent to hell to the tune of love set fire (tm).
