Everyone around here (Tuscaloosa) >tends to listen to Dave Matthews Band and Phish. hey now.. i finally bought "Crash" (i tend to be about 5 years behind in my CD purchases) & i have to admit that Two Step is now one of my favourite songs. it starts out w/ a "Run Like Hell" feel & runs into a "Gallows Pole" type beat. also in my backpack: Great Big Sea - "Up" yeah, i know it's old... *but* Mari-Mac is really helpful when coming off 3rd shift + 3 hours overtime. Beastie Boys - "the sounds of science" a newer double CD set. i bought it 'cause almost all the songs i like are on it (No Sleep 'til Brooklyn isn't) & i found some other songs i really like. the Cure - Bloodflowers mmm... the Cure... *drool* BF is their darkest album in over a decade. it's mostly about the rumoured end of the band (now dispelled by Robert Smith himself). and they're the only other band i would pay $40 USD & drive 2 hours to see (10 rows from the stage!!) Moxy Früvous - Live at the Iron Horse 10/30/98 we all know this one, but i'm being complete. 'sides, this was part of the best weekend of my life. :-) Triprocket - self-titled Dallas-based gothy-synth-pop... i don't even know if they're still together anymore, as my link to the area has been severed for a long time (thank God), but this album is still quite neat & still one of my favourites. Rush - Chronicles a double CD set from Toronto's own fathers of prog. rock. this is pre- "Roll the Bones," but has many famous & infamous songs... including the first 2 movements of "2112." Violent Femmes - Add It Up another retrospective CD, but once again, it has all the songs i like on it & i'm cheap ;-) - -Snow, realising that her tastes are far too mainstream to be a *real* Frühead but honestly doesn't care. Peter Mulvey- The Trouble With Poets- He opened for the Nields and it was just wow. This guy really plays the guitar. Dar Williams- The Green World- I've only heard Mortal City besides this one, and I really like them both, but for different reasons. Sarah Harmer- You Were Here- Even if I didn't like anything else on this CD, I would still listen to it just for the little clarinet solo in the beginning. But I *do* like the rest of the CD. Canadian Brass- Take the "A" Train- I love brass and Ellington. It just doesn't get much better than this. Sesame Street- I don't know what it's called, but the CD itself is blue. You get a lot of wierd looks when a bunch of teenagers are driving around downtown in a Jeep singing "Caribbean Amphibian." - --Kyla ===== "Back in your old yard, the tree from your childhood is thinking about you and shivers a sigh." - --Peter Mulvey, 'Wings of the Ragman' __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
