Denizens of AMMF may belabo(u)r a point but typically its because most of the people who stand up to be recognized either don't a) know all the facts, b) don't understand what is being said (i.e. lots of legal mumbo jumbo about who has what right to do what where) c) the tone of the response wasn't to someone's liking so they decide to interject on the part of so and so, typically not helping their cause but only adding noise to the argument d) all of the previously mentioned. So here are the facts as far as I am concerned, a. you do something like selling a photograph on Ebay, you deserve the debate that follows (this is because the person who is selling didn't observe rule a) b. people who are defending the action because said person is "only going to make a few dollars" are not observing any of the rules because it is illegal to sell the photo without celebrity's approval no matter how little is made on the sale. It doesn't matter if they're a nice person or if they're only making 2 cents, its not legal. End of argument (and if you think it is legal, then I'd suggest re-reading some of the thread). c. the long debate that followed was very refreshing in terms of adding additional information so that if someone else attempts something similar, you already know its a bad idea (like if someone decides they're going to sell moxy fruvous MP3s or their own brand of moxy fruvous t-shirts or jian deorderant or .... ). d. I didn't think this was blown out of proportion, I thought it was a pretty healthy discussion of the issue at hand. But it is my observation that the side which comes out in the wrong tends to view these things as being blown out of proportion. if you don't like the debate, please ignore it and start a "dreams" thread. I was searching my library's computer for fruvous CDs (sadly, I don't own them all) and it turned up this one video (don't ask me... ?) called "The Real Deal, Episode #2: Jobs and Future Careers". I couldn't fathom what on earth this had to do with fruvous but checked it out anyway. Turns out it's an old MuchMusic show about (what else?) jobs and future careers, but our very own Moxy Fruvous just happens to be the musical guest. They perform "I Love My Boss" pretty close to the beginning of the show and then seemed to leave, but I kept fast forwarding through the rest anyways. It paid off... there were two more fruvous moments. In the first one Jian rambles a bit about the economy and job finding (I won't give you all the details) and then at the end of the show they perform "River Valley". So if anyone has too much time on their hands (like myself) and is desperate for some non-CD (however old: I don't have an exact year, but Jian is "Jean" and he and Murray have lots of hair) fruvous stuff during the hiatus, check it out. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Oct 2000 18:51:00 -0400 From: "Ken Perschke" Subject: Re: What's everyone listening to? > Hi. His first two (Five Leaves Left and Bryter Layter) are also great, they're orchestrated nicely and fairly upbeat. Then came Pink Moon, while he was battling a severe depression (that eventually took his life two years later) which was just him and a guitar recorded in a couple nights. The songs are quite rough, and very haunting. Get it. Or better yet, admit that you're going to love it all and buy the box set, Fruit Tree. :-) There are only two artists, him and Peter Mulvey, who I'd recommend with such fervor. Go buy all of Peter's stuff while you're at it. ;-) - --- Josh Woodward Technical Yahoo - Yahoo!
