Yes, I've read them all now and with so much fuss I felt that I needed to respond. From all the Fruvous shows I've gone to, I've seen a little of both there. I'm meet people at Fruvous shows who I now go to Phish and Dead with as well as others who believe themselves to be totally from the Geek end and go to Sci-Fi cons and other folky show with them. So as long as your doing what you love...the labels for it shouldn't matter. But what your all missing is the bigger picture. I think Fruvous calling their fans Hippies and Geeks is a compliment. What makes hippies and geeks similar is that both groups think for themselves and don't take what the mass media tries to force down our throats daily. They both show incredible devotion to their bands and to the other fans. They both you will give you a ride to show, a place to crash and just a helping hand if you need it. They both love setlists and hearing what the band plays, talks about, or jams on any given night. They both are willing to travel long and far just to see a show. Though most of all both groups give an incredible name to being fans and more importantly to being friends... It really doesn't matter which you are. I think it's all a personal choice. I happen to consider myself both. Yes, I followed the Dead long before I ever saw Fruvous but at the same time I grew up going to Sci-Fi cons, Ren faires and read comic books so I think I have a foot in both worlds. Hell, this summer I realized I had seen more Fruvous show then Dead shows while Jerry was still here. I think all that means I'm a fan of two of the greatest bands in the world. With all this said I hope you all realize it doesn't matter if you come from one side or the other. I personally feel you should just be who you are and be true to that. That's all that matters in life... Appologies in advance if this only makes this flame war worse. I just felt this needed another perspective. My GAWD, how much spam be there here in one day?!?!?!! Anyway, in case there's ANY NG folk in New Mexico, I just wanted to post that there's a duo playing there you should check out on Saturday. They're called R&R Crossing, and they're from Chicago, and they play originals as well as covers of Elvic C. (THE KING OF ROCK AND ROLL- haha), Jackson Browne, Hendrix, Croce, etc... Now unfortunately, they are playing at the pit of evil- the Starbucks on Central- but think about what a wonderful statement that makes to go into a Starbucks, listen to music, and leave without buying anything... they have a lot of good bands playing at the Starbucks in the Chicago area and that's what I do. I would have to 'but' you in the first place. I can't and won't. I'm with you. I care not for petty squabbles. I enjoy mocking and, by an expert, being mocked, but I take no offense. Your biology rant was very entertaining, I had had the same thought while listening to the 'meosis' song. As for hippies, buh. People call me a skinhead, I know I am not so it doesn't bother me. People should lighten up, hippies and non-hippies alike. Trevor "Anyone for naked newsgroup day?"
