Actually I thought of the same thing - because there is a song circulating on Napster that is listed as Moxy Fruvous called "Sail On Sail Away" when it's actually the 70s band Moxy (a song from 1976). And a totally different sound from Fruvous too...Hmmmm... you would think someone would have questioned the file when they heard it and renamed it... Hi again all! I know, long time no post from Tom, so enjoy it while it lasts (lol). Hello to everyone who I have met this year but been in hiding from, hehe... I surfed napster for the first time (!?!) this week and found a number of interesting tracks attributed to "Moxy Früvous". On was a very nice choral piece which I couldn't convince myself was the guys since there were (1) too many voices and (2) chatter afterwards that lead into King. Also, an Istanbul Remix was labeled with the MF name (which was a cool remix, btw) but I couldn't believe those FrüFour we know did that - especially when the vocals sounded exactly like TMBG. I guess what I am saying is how widespread is the misnomering and is it really a bad thing the bands are associated with music that is not their own or a good thing that people actually know their names and try to credit them with a song? (now the question becomes, is that a really long question or what?) later, tom. (of former Clarkson University fame and still a resident of the Früvousless Syracuse!) Often times I get to hear live versions of songs that are down right hilarious and even get to be a fan of bands I never hear before (ie. Snmnmnmn). ------------------------------ Date: 27 Jun 2000 02:35:50 GMT From: Christopher Gibbins <4cg7@qlink.queensu.ca> Subject: Fruvous at Canada Day ------------------------------ Date: 27 Jun 2000 02:54:06 GMT From: dret64@aol.comnospam (Joshua Flowers) Subject: Re: Cincinnati 6/22 >Psycho Killer >Disco Bargainville >KOS (Cranky) >Spiderman >The Drinking Song > >Also in there were an improv that included some 70s soul (Have You Seen >Her, etc.), and one that included Dave going into U2's "Pride." >And am I the only one who thinks "Heatseeker Boy" is a GREAT song? > >--tc > Hey I was at this show it was super keen. I waited around after the show too and met 3 of them but I left because they didn't know if....er forgot name ...the bald one was going to come out. Argh I'm horrible at names the only ones I can remember are Jian and I think Murphy. Also Jian told me talking Heads was his favorite band after the show. I loved the show can't wait to they come back again. -Josh p.s. I was the one wearing the Transformers shirt if anyone reading this was there. I have a band. You have a band. Yeah, I've seen all of those... you're talking about the "And So It Goes" track by what sounds like a very good college acappella group that then leads into KoS where the guy chokes and everyone starts laughing, right? There's also this Some Veggies Went To Sea thing... I have no clue about that... it sounds like something Früvous might do, but I think I would've heard of it before if it was them, right? Well, when I come across these things I keep them if they're good and just rename them. I try to keep my napster labelling very consistent and accurate whenever possible... but I share an account with my brother and God knows what he's doing with it... And if anyone ever figures out what group that is doing And So It Goes, please tell me... I like it a lot and I think the group should be credited. :) je touche le requin dans le tourbillon mechanique au l'aquarium immense moment de frisson doux et ridicule - -Mike Ford (hehe) Gella ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V4 #274 ********************************************
