I just responded to a post, and it dawned on me.. The last 5 CD's I've bought of Moxy Fruvous have had the center pieces of the Jewel Case (You know, the part that keeps the CD in the case?) was broken. I bought 2 Thornhill CD's at Best Buy, 1 Thorn hill at Borders, and 2 C CD's at Maple Music.. Anyone else having this problem? No problems with the CD, except part of the jewel case (the part in the Center) had a few pieces broken.. The same happened with the THREE Thornhill albums I bought at Best Buy... It's worse on the clear jewel case insides, or the thin black ones. Thanks for that link. It was neat to see actual evidence of what used to be just net.lore about the founding of this group *grin* Added to the FAQ: 19)* Where is the charter for alt.music.moxy-fruvous? In technical newsgroup geek terms, there was quite an excitement over the registration of alt.music.moxy-fruvous before everything settled down. With an already existing (yet badly named and half-heartedly propaged) newsgroup for the discussion of the band, it took a few tries to get alt.music.moxy-fruvous added to the Usenet hierarchy and news spools around the world. You can see some remnants of this and also the newsgroup charter as written by Jason Reiser at: ftp://ftp.isc.org/pub/usenet/control/alt/alt.music.moxy-fruvous.Z Note that the newsgroup charter is not kept up to date. This FAQ is kept up to date and should be a great resource for up-to-date information about the newsgroup and the band. The charter is available for posterity however for all internet history buffs and curiosity-driven fans alike. - Chad ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Jun 2000 10:37:54 -0700 From: Maggie Subject: Re: Moxy's CD's... oh, don't worry about it. i manage to somehow break each and every cd case i own. either the little jewel thingies inside break off or the case itself cracks... or... something. what can i say? i'm talented. :D ~Maggie~ "Früvous, like wine, is an acquired taste." ~ *sally* "Fr˙fffffc * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet's Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet - Free! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Jun 2000 11:42:58 -0700 From: Ellen Subject: Re: [jflick@snet.net: Falcon Ridge Showcase Announcement] In article <20000610083124.28747.00000481@ng-cl1.aol.com>, bbwminors@aol.com (BBWMinors) wrote: > am I the only person who >WASN"T that impressed with Martina Sorbera??? Yup. I got one of his CDs and the EP. Both are quite cool, although the EP suffers from a couple of songs that just don't really work when recorded in a studio. (The CD I got was mostly recorded live.) Ang ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Jun 2000 23:07:06 -0400 From: Ofer Inbar Subject: spam complaints to shore.net may cause ammf gateway shutoff Sometimes people post spam to ammf via the gateway, by mailing it to ammf@fruvous.com. I subscribe to the RBL and RSS so known spammers listed in either of those won't get through, but of course the majority of spam comes from yet-unlisted sources. If someone sends a spam complaint to me about spam that came through the gateway, I have the ability to block anything coming from that address to get posted in the future. However, recently people have been complaining to shore.net, because the gateway is using their news server to post. They have no control over how the gateway acts, so their only recourse if they keep getting spam complaints is to cut off my access. I've asked them to just forward spam complaints to me so that I can deal with the complaints, but they refuse to do so. If they continue to get spam complaints, they will shut off my access, and there's really nothing at all I can do about it. I can cut off particular spammers if they are reported to me, but I can't easily cut off all spam without severely restricting people's ability to post via the gateway. A large portion of legitimate gateway posts come from addresses that are *not* subscribed to the mailing list on the news->mail side of the gateway, so if I went through the contortions necessary to restrict gateway posting only to subscribers (the mailing list and list processor are on a totally different server which I don't even have root on), it would be a hindrance to many people who use the gateway today. Now the thing that puzzles me is, why are people complaining to Shore about spam on ammf? If someone sends in spam through the gateway, that spam is only posted to ammf and not to any other newsgroups, so whoever is complaining must be an ammf reader. I was under the impression that ammf readers are in general aware of and supportive of the gateway. If you see a spam with the gateway's information in its headers, but complain to Shore instead of to me, you jeopardize the gateway's access to news, while I remain unaware of the complaint (and Shore won't even let me see it after they tell me they got a complaint and I ask to see it) and unable to put a reject for that spam in the gateway. Are the people who have been sending complaints to shore.net about spam on ammf reading this message? If so, *please* get in touch with me before the gateway is forced to wander in search of news servers yet again. -- Cos (Ofer Inbar) -- cos@polyamory.org http://cos.polyamory.org/ -- WBRS (100.1 FM) -- info@wbrs.org http://www.wbrs.org/ "We're a bunch of geeks, and so is our audience.
