Try listening to Nervous and Weird, Loser Makes Good or Electra Made Me Blind. I don't recall Art ever releasing a solo album, but Everclear is essentially the Art Alexakis band, so I won't argue with you there. I'm not much of an Everclear fan anymore; they don't seem to be progressing musically and I'm not very fond of Mr. Alexakis to begin with. One of Art's more famous lyrical metaphors is ripped directly from the title of NIN's first album. He won't admit to it, but I know it's true. Yes, FOCS is a great a cappella group, one of the best contemporary groups in existence. Their second album, "So There" has some amazing tracks on it ("So Far Away" and "Tribute" are classics. Sean Altman, who collaborated with Jian on a tune on Sean's upcoming album, wrote the former track.) Their harmonies are smooth and tight, the production is good, and the band uses a lot of modulation and distortion effects on the vocals, to create a guitar-type effect. It's a unique sound, and it doesn't suck. What Stack does is called vocal percussion (check out some of Rockapella's albums or anything by the House Jacks for other styles of vocal percussion. The Jacks' "Funkwich" is a must-have.). Wes carroll, the current Vocal Percussionist for the Jacks used to be in FOCS, and has a site devoted to the art-form of mouth drumming at www.gotspit.com > Anyway, I seriously think y'all should check them out. Now, are both performances featuring the band in a line up among other performers or does anyone know if either slots are "workshop" dealies? I can only make it to one of the two days so I would like to make my decision based on that particular information. 2) fdc mentions that it's a FREE performance (???) It wasn't free last year. Maybe they charge admission to the grounds and consider the shows free. In any case, thanks in advance for the information. It was an incredible event last year and I encourage anyone who can make it to do so! Take care.
