A whole bunch of great people were there, we got to hear quite excellent music, the beer was cold, the fans were doing a better than average job of circulating the air, and I had a venue pass thingy courtesy of my friend Emily the Yale Librarian that made my ticket cost only $5. - --Adam adamh@javanet.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 May 2000 19:01:22 -0700 (PDT) From: Cathy Crawford Subject: unsubscribe unsubscribe __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I would think that it was the big part of Ontario up in the north there, but in talking with and listening to others, it seems that Northern Ontario is anything north of Toronto and that nubby part that 401 goes through towards Windsor and Detroit. - -- chad at radix dot net ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 May 2000 21:09:51 -0400 From: chad schrock Subject: Re: OT: Britney Spears Marie-Claude Danis wrote: > > > Not boobs--knees! > ... wha? > > mcee, confused. Wait...that would make *me* in Northern Ontario...that can't be right! Even though a lot of necks are kinda red here... :D Stay Frosty, Sarah "Shoes...cheese...never mind." -Cornfed, "Duckman" ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 May 2000 20:27:17 -0700 From: IflySWA Subject: Re: OT: The Northern Ontario Rant Hey Chrissy, Thanks for Posting that...now for my edit The Northern Ontario Rant (from the gal from Thunder Bay who now lives in Southern Ontario) I'm not a hunter, a curler or a cross-country skier. (OK, curling *is* cool and I have been cross country skiing. I have never hunted, unless roadkill counts) I don't live in a log cabin or a trapper's shack. I don't eat moose meat every night. (moose makes great pepperoni. Log cabins with fireplaces and the right guy are a winner in my books anytime!) And I don't drive a four by four. (or a truck!) And I don't know Bobby Curtola, Cosmo Filane or Shania Twain, Although I've heard them all sing. (I do know Bobby Curtola, he used to play in my uncle's band and I once dated Cosmo Filane's nephew, however I would never admit to knowing Shania.) I have met Myrna Lorrie and she was very nice. (But not as nice as Paul Schaefer, he went to my highschool and at that time I think the schaefer's were the only Jewish family in all of Northern Ontario) I drink whatever I want but especially clear unpolluted water. (Well,I have never seen such a thing but I like to think it's true) I don't play bingo every night of the week (well maybe once every two years) and I catch pickerel and pike, not Walleye and Northerns. (and I used to gut'em and eat'em too...but now I prefer to dine at Filet of Sole on John Street in Toronto) And I pronounce it To-Ron-To, not Trawna, (Nope, I now live in Trawna so I say Trawna like the rest of 'em) And I know that if you came from THERE to help me HERE, then the cheque is in the mail along with a few other things. (like my Quill which gets mailed from the US which I still have yet to receive) I go for a sauna at the camp, not a steam bath at the cottage. (I will go for either of these...who cares what you call it...it's gooooood. After the sauna I either roll in the snow in the winter or in summer I sit infront of the fire on the beach all night just to watch the sun rising over the Sleeping Giant at 4am) And I've had heat stroke and frost bite in the same month. (which is better than heat stroke and smog poisoning from May to October in Toronto) Persians ARE cinnamon buns with icing, (they are totally awsome when fried, golden brown and buttered on both sides...get your mind out of that gutter!) George the Porter IS Santa's helper (and my dad's dog is called Rudolph) And Heather Houston IS the best curler. (and she is a hell of alot more interesting than Whitney Houston) And the town next to Terrace Bay IS PRONOUNCED SKRY-Ber, not Shyr-ber!!! (unless you just love to piss those people off in Shry-ber so you just keep mispronouncing it over and over and over again) North Bay is south and Thunder Bay is pretty quiet. (get a map and see for yourself...it is also 400 miles closer to Toronto so it really doesn't count as way up north at all, it's kinda like just beyond cottage country) Kakabeka IS the Niagara of the north (and Kakabeka Cream Ale is damn fine beer. And our Indian princess went over the falls long before that Niagara girl did) Sudbury is the world's largest meteor crate (where incidentally parts of the original StarTrek series were filmed because of it's terrestrial terrain) Northern Ontario is the home of the blackfly, ("Black Fly, little blackfly, always a blackfly no matter where I go I go. I'll die with the black fly pickinmy bones in North Ontari-o-i-o, in North Ontari-o." Also the home of many a great folk singer. BTW they the biggest Blackfly's you've seen in your life. Two could eat you alive) The BIGGEST part of the Precambrian Shield, (That's a big canadian rock thing formed during the ice age) And the BEST part of Ontario!! (well at least I have a very warm spot in my heart for it but I wouldn't go that far...however it does have the highest drug trafficing rate in all of Canada if that counts for anything) And I know that...as far as Mike Harris in concerned, My vote doesn't count!!! (It does now...'cause I live in TRAWNA) I AM FROM NORTHERN ONTARIO!!!!! (well, at least still in my heart) Drea... Do you miss Old Dutch Sour Cream and Onion Chips, McKellar Confectionary Slop Burgers and Coney Dogs, and homemade fries in a paper bag with tonnes of Vinegar. How about midnight sunsets and the Northern Lights. Mi (now from Mississauga) anxiously awaiting a one week holiday in Thunder Bay the first week of August. I guess the chances of Fruvous playing that week are pretty slim huh? It's not that far (only 16 hours from Toronto) especially in the car :-) * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet's Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet - Free! ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V4 #218 ********************************************
