I happened to go to The Barking Spider Tavern last night, and got to see a really great band called 'Rhino2Rhino'... they are currently on their first 'tour', as they are from Boulder, CO. I ended up talking to them after the show and it turns out that they are FruHeads of some degree, and you can tell that in their music, and banter for that matter... Anyway, here are their upcoming dates, if you are in the area, go check them out, you won't be sorry. 5/10 - The Elbow Room, NYC, NY 9pm 5/11 - Sky Bar, Boston/Somersville, MA 9pm 5/15 - Galaxy Hut, Arlington, VA 9pm 5/19 - East End Cafe, Cincinnati, OH 9pm 5/20 - Jazz Haus, Lawrence, KS 9pm www.rhino2rhino.com for more info on the shows. Uhm, i would like to point out the fact that sam-i-am, at no point in the post, mentioned a name or anything. What's the harm in telling the story of the concert from their perspective when they really did no harm to anyone in particular? as you read this, just know that i was not there. i have absolutely no idea what happened. I'm going from the explanation that sam-i-am had the setlist and another fruhead came up and snatched it away from sam-i- am after it was clearly in his/her(?) possession. aight? ok, i'm seriously cracking up right now. that had to have been the worst flame i have ever read in my life. #1 just because the mystery fruhead was getting the setlist for an "ill friend" it's ok to snatch it away from someone that already had it? Sorry, by throwing in the pity points of --- aw it's for someone sick -- - - not cutting it with me. On top of that, what good is a setlist from a show you weren't even at?! #2 sounds to me that this is the perfect place to talk about such an event because a)it is completely relevant to this newsgroup. considering that this *is* a gathering place for fans of the band... especially those that feel the need to snatch up setlists. For all you know, this is going to develop into some thread about how there should be a "set-list snatching code of conduct" b)it was obviously a portion of the show that's going to stick in the memory of sam-i-am. Who knows, maybe this will turn into a thread about how people have had their concert experiences soured. I could go on with potential threads that i, and possibly others, would find interesting that this could develop into --- i'm just saying that it is an open forum and this is soooo much more relevant to moxy fruvous than some of the other crap posted here... let 'em speak their mind. To sam-i-am, i really liked your touch of throwing the crumpled up remains at the fruhead. It really makes me think that had they been mature enough to just ask you for the freekin' piece of paper, you would have given it to 'em. Obviously it wasn't *that* important to you. However, just as you stated, this snatchy-fruhead opted to go for it and now look *grin* > No one cares about your personal fight > for a setlist. i care. i care because i think that was the first time in a while i've heard someone honestly state how wiggity frushows can get. I like hearing it because i've had friends that like the band but refuse to go to concerts anymore because fruheads scare them and they want nothing to do with the "scene." Maybe by realizing just how incredibly detarded people get over little things like that at a frushow it may open your eyes to what's really going on around you at the gigs. But because so many of the people on this list are friends... *grin* yeah whatever. I will give you mad props, Mocksie, for sticking up for your buds. > ...oh well... Case in point: In the Tragically Hip's last album, the two first singles ("Poets" and "Something On") were both released as both videos and radio singles. However, their two subsequent singles were more tailored to one medium: "Bobcaygeon" was mainly a video single (though it gets occasional radio play) while "Fireworks" got plenty of radio play despite not having a video. Some songs just don't work in both media, and sonetimes it's just too expensive to make a video worthwhile. Much More Music is great; better shows, better in-rotation videos, and less in-your-face VJs (in fact, barely any), nauseating camera work and wacky concepts. Less aimed at 16 year olds, I guess. And so, after much consideration (about 5 minutes worth at least), I came up with the following list of who's who and why. However, Jian did *not* turn out to be John, simply because I did not go by looks, or instruments either, for that matter. (BTW, I think that Jian's new look is very cute., especially with the Persian cowboy hat.) Here are my results: John Lennon: Mike- For some reason, he just seems like the kind of strange, but altogether cool, guy that John was in his Beatles' days. Anyone who's seen "A Hard Day's Night" or "Help!" will know what I mean. Paul McCartney: Jian- According to many people he's "the cute one", not to mention the fact that he is most definitely a flirt, and he's got the biggest (or maybe just loudest) following of obsessed teenage girls. And the cute-love-song factor helps, too. George Harrison: Dave- His songs tend to be less obvious in meaning than those of the other lads (some totally defy explaination), and he can pick up an instrument and learn to play it in two days, when it would take a normal person two years. Ringo Starr: Murray- Yup, simply because he's sort of the quiet, occasionally disturbing guy with the weird one-liners, who doesn't really sing as often as the others, and the songs he writes are invariably weird (although he does write more than Ringo did). Of course, I'm not trying to say the lads are Beatles wanna-bes or anything like that- I just noticed these somewhat unsettling parallels in a fit of boredom. If you disagree with my results (and I'm sure some people will), please post your own version of this list, or try to find some Fruvous parallels with other bands.
