Thanks for > looking! :-) Just a note that you can get your own personally autographed YWGTTM or any CD you want or anything you want[1] by following these easy steps: 1) NOT buying anything off eBay 2) Go to a Moxy Fruvous show near you 3) Purchase a CD from the friendly person behind the merchandise table[2] 4) Wait patiently for band members to emerge from behind the stage, Sharpies in hand 5) Watch Murray scribble something unintelligible that later, once you think about it a whole lot, is actually very intelligible 6) Tell Jian your name, and watch him remember it next time or link it to something he already knows about you, scaring you utterly while simultaneously impressing the hell out of you 7) See Dave smile at you in complete appreciation of you coming to see the show and thinking he's cool enough to want his autograph 8) Turn the CD over and over and over trying to figure out what the hell Mike drew. It's kinda fishy birdy persony... thing... uh.. I guess. Or I guess you could buy autographed CDs off eBay. One of the two gives you a lot better memories and something much more valuable than the other. I leave it up to you, dear reader, to figure out which is which. - Chad [1] Shoes, arms, toilet paper dispensers [2] Or bring your own already purchased CD ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Apr 2000 17:26:28 GMT From: "Sigrid, the only FruSmurf" Subject: Re: Moxy Fruvous World Thank you! Yay, I'm always looking for an excuse to tell people about Dar! Dar Williams is an excellent folk singer whose songs have just enough pop influence in them to make them really singable and fun, but not enough to take away from the intensity of her lyrics. She has 3 albums out, and I'm hoping another one's on the way sometime soon. You can listen to samples from her albums on www.darwilliams.com. I think you'll like them! I just got into Dar at the beginning of this year, and she quickly became one of my favorite singers! It's almost impossible not to sing along with her music. Anyway, I can't wait until her concert this summer, I've never seen her live... plus it's free, so it doesn't get much better than that! ;) By the way, I'm a newbie to the online Fruvous scene, so I should introduce myself. My name's Kristen, and I go to Nazareth College in good old Rochester, NY. Anyone from the area feel free to drop me a line! Or anyone *not* from the area, for that matter, I'm not picky. :) I'll be at the Fruvous concert at Geneseo on the 29th anyway, so maybe I'll see some of you there. Cya! ATTENTION, AMMF'ers!! moxy fruvous, yes, MOXY FRUVOUS, is playing toad's place in new haven, CT on may 7. that's a sunday night. and you ALL had better come! unfortunately, it is falling right at the end of the yale exam period. (god knows i've got an exam that afternoon & one the next morning... but i'm gonna be there!) so while i hope to get as many people as possible from around here to show, i know that the timing is not ideal for friends of mine who might be on the fence about attending, but decide not to b/c of their testing schedule. but this is fruvous's first toad's show, so attendance is critical--a good turnout & maybe they'll come back on another tour that's, er, *not* during finals! there are other new tourdates listed, too (like providence the night before), so i do recommend checking out FDC. and, um, come to new haven! please...? ^kat^ "when your dream comes true, you're out one dream" http://fly.to/the.midway.after.dark eclectic cafe. 8-10 pm tuesday night. www.broadcast.com/radio/college/wybcam ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 Apr 2000 01:48:25 GMT From: Lori Martin Subject: re: OT: ummm... said Lawrence: > ahhh, lucky northerners. :) just barely. > we only got a light dusting, if you could even call it that. 3 gloppy, heavy, branch-bending inches that was sparkly and wonderful and playable but all disappeared by 3 pm. no gray dreck left over! no salt! no mad toilet-paper-and-bread runs to the supermarket! a true fantasy storm! > my parents were like "Look out the window at the snow." Dar is an incredible Folk Singer (to me at least). Her album _Mortal City_ is really great. Anyways, she's a folk singer. She sings folk music. She sings it very well. Go see her. http://www.darwilliams.com prolly has info about her. The Nields are a pop group. They have a lot of vocal harmonies (their lead singers are two sisters who are excellent vocalists) and great song writing ability. Their bass player is pretty good and has really expensive equiptment to boot *grin*. Go see them too. http://www.nields.com for Nield info. Both Dar and the Nields have strong Fruvous connections as well, which is probably why they pop up a lot around these parts. - Chad ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V4 #180 ********************************************
