I'm sure WXPN's morning show will soon feature Michaela revealing the Appel Farm line up for this year. But for those of you who, like me, love this festival every year (whether or not Moxy Fruvous is there, as they are this year - Yea!) and can't wait to find out who we're going to see this time - here's an advance list of some of the other headliners: Jonatha Brooke, Mary-Chapin Carpenter...and Richard Thompson!!! Unbelievable! BTW, this info is courtesy of www.pollstar.com - a great concert info resource. Also, the Bridgeton Folk Festival features Cheryl Wheeler, Susan Werner and Tom Rush this year on 6/17/00. (Damn, I'll be in Savannah that weekend! Oh, well - can't be everywhere!) See you all in Elmer! I'm going to be up in Toronto this weekend, partly to go see the Lion King, but also to catch Tory Cassis in concert. He is playing at the Reservoir Lounge, 52 Wellington St. E. at 10 PM (It's a double set.) There is a cover charge (Approx. CDN$7), and is 19+. Hope to see some of you Früheads out there! - -Paul Mischler ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 08 Apr 2000 03:38:10 GMT From: Marie-Claude Danis Subject: Re: OT: Tory Cassis > I'm going to be up in Toronto this weekend, partly to go see the Lion > King, but also to catch Tory Cassis in concert. He is playing at the > Reservoir Lounge, 52 Wellington St. E. at 10 PM (It's a double set.) > There is a cover charge (Approx. CDN$7), and is 19+. Yes, in fact he plays there every Saturday night. The Reservoir Lounge is a very upper-class yuppie jazz lounge, very nice and atmospheric. VERY small, and the place gets packed beyond your imagination. Tory plays jazz and swing standards -- *not* his own songs (just so you know). The doors open at 8pm and if you want anything that resembles a decent spot (i.e. being able to actually SEE Tory), you better get there at 8. The tiny foot-high stage is crammed in a corner and not at all visible for all the club. Tory comes on at 10pm with a few other interchangeable but amazing back-up musicians, and plays for an hour. There are three sets total, and half an hour of break between each. There are often random guest musicians who come and sing with Tory, including Victor Cassis Sr. from time to time. The music ends at two. Do not take lightly my warning about the place getting packed. Lee's Palace on the night of FruCon is only beginning to portrait what I mean ;) The club is near the Flat Iron Building and the closest subway stop to it is the King Station. Have a good time!! ~MC ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V4 #177 ********************************************
