For some reason, Misstra has become my favorite song this semester. I've been playing it and singing it constantly, I had Dave's little rap in my head all the time, and I even got Inner Visions for Christmas so I could hear the original version. But why? Probably not a pressing issue or anything, but I'm bored and ellen's post reminded me about it. Also I'm just curious to see if one of my hotmail posts will get thru. This year's much-awaited Fruhead Convention is approaching at an alarming rate (insert image of committee members popping valium). Among other heart-warming, toe-curling activities planned to entertain the frumasses during the Con, our team of trained experts specializing in... well, heart-warming and toe-curling activities, thought it would be peachy to have an OPEN MIC to let the talented among us show what they have previously only shown at family gatherings and/or to an unfortunate pet or spouse. Think you have what it takes? We're looking for anything Fruvous from parodies to covers to wacky versions of old favourites. Your song must be acoustic and of regular length, and a few mics will be provided. Your fate will be decided by a small panel composed of randomly picked conventioneers. If interested in performing, email us *BEFORE FEBRUARY 8* at openmic@fruhead.com with your NAME(S), the NAME and LENGTH of your SONG, and what your act is about. A few spots will remain free for day-of registration. Spots are assigned on a first come first served basis. If interested in being part of the PANEL, please *do not* email us: the panelists will be randomly selected by a draw at the Con. So come, come talented ones! They had a tour bus and lighting crew and sound crew instead of just a couple (talented) people. They had labels fighting over signing them. http://www.cgocable.net/~rockit/blastpst/moxyfruv/ is realaudio of a concert from that time. Note the screaming fans *grin* They also have gone to Europe a couple of times. Around Wood, it was a small tour mostly in England and Scotland I think, centered around a big festival. I was so sad) :) The dates are listed on FDC. There was another transatlantic tour in '94. I know they played the Edinburgh Fringe Festival that year because that is where the fabled Colleen first met them. Let's see... According to Quills #s 3 and 4 (available on FDC) in August and September of '94 they played the UK and Denmark. Denmark? Weird. Also it says that that was a return trip based on a previous successful run in London, so they were there earlier in that year too.
