My dad and I call it "old people's food." She > tells us to shut up and eat the damn jello.*********** Tell her next time to use mandarin oranges instead of pinapple. Trust me. Actually, fruit in jello makes MUCH more sense than vegetables. It's late, and I'm reminising, but about 8 years ago, a friend of mine passed away at the age of 24. After the funeral, all of us buddies got together, saw one of Dave's favorite bands, and then got totallly wrecked at his girlfriend's house. Some kindly old ladies had given his girlfriend food at the funeral. One of these items was a circular molded batch of green jello with various solid foods in it. We all noted the grapes and oranges, but there was a funny shaped item we couldn't identify. The best guess was mushrooms (which, to us, seemed inappropriate for jello, however we figured it could be some Scandinavian recipe of which we weren't aware.) A couple of hours later, I was standing on the porch with some other folks and was deep in conversation about the fragility of life when our buddy, Ryan, came bounding down the stairs, burst through the door and yelled, "DATES!" Afterwhich, he promptly ran back in the house and up the stairs. We all sat around looking perplexed at each other until our friend, Julie, started laughing. When we asked her why, she replied, "He means the stuff in the jello!" How the hell she connected that is beyond me, but I just know that dates DO NOT belong in jello...ever. Thanks for reading. Cookie Why are so many of my memories of jello connected to funerals? ------------------------------ Date: 29 Feb 2000 07:12:02 GMT From: mmstevens18@cs.comwhatever (Princess) Subject: Re: prom or Fruvous Don't know the exact situation you're in, but is it somehow possible to do prom *and* fruvous? Very easy to find if you're new to Madison. About 3 miles from the Barrymore. The streets about a mile long & is completly lined with book stores, record shops, cafes, ethnic restaurants, bars & the like. You can park on the street, but any downtown Madison parking garage is $1.00 for the day. Once you get to the campus from State street head to the right along the lakefront until you get to the Student Union (about a block from state street). Inside the Union you can eat Babcock Hall Ice Cream which is made by the UW dairy dept & is rumoured to have the highest fat content of any commercial ice cream in America. Yes it's damn good. So you want to stretch yer legs before the show? a block away from the Barrymore is the Madison bike/walk trail which circles all of Lake Monona & is 12 miles in a loop. Anywho - if anyone needs directions to the show or other assistance. Let me know. Looking forward to a great show.
