This is too funny. I first met Jian after the 12/3 Amherst show. You know, the show where all the single Fruboys were saying they were going to meet their future spouses. So, when I went to work the next day I made some silly joke about how I had met my future husband. One of my employees asked me, "Did you get his number?" and "When are you gonna go out again?" HELLO, maybe next time I'll respond by asking to see the Cracker Jacks prize engagement ring she got from Kid Rock. Oh, forget it, she wont understand. Considering that theres probably a lurking Fruboy, I've probably said too much. Oh well. During FruCon I, the band treated us to a special acoustic set of rare songs. Last year, the band hosted the raffle of rare Fruvous memorabilia. We're sure they've got something special up their sleeves for this year, so we hope you won't miss it. But we can't pinpoint an exact time. The Con itself will start around 11am and we'll have several special events, including a Fruhead "talent" show/open mic, a q-and-a panel of distinguished guests and videos of Fruvous past and present. All of this in addition to the best reason to come: a chance to mix and mingle and meet Fru-friends from near and far. We expect everything will wrap up by about 5pm. Please note that the registration table will only operate from 11-3:30pm, so that Frucon volunteers can participate in the Con. That means that anyone who wants to get in must arrive before 330. Of course, we suggest arriving well before that to ensure not missing anything. Please check back here on AMMF and at the Frucon committee's website (http://frucon3.tripod.com or follow the links from FDC or FHDC) for any last-minute updates. For any other Frucon questions, please feel free to email frucon@pacbell.net for a quick answer. Skating is a civic duty required of all citizens so that they can fill in in case disaster strikes one of the hockey teams. :) There is FREE skating in the heart of Toronto, just outside city hall in Nathan Phillips Sq. There is a large reflecting pool which is used (after the 2 weeks or so of summer they have there) as an ice rink. Skate rental is available. Here is the skating entry from the info sheet we are doing of all-ages activities in Toronto: Skating Nathan Phillips Square (Queen and Bay) Free outdoor skating. Skate Rental available for approx. $7 Harbourfront Centre (Take subway to Union Station and then streetcar to Queen's Quay) Free outdoor skating. Skate Rental available for approx. $7 Lights and music on until 10:00 p.m. Hope that helps! I suspected that Carroll might have coined the phrase, it would fit right in the Jabberwock or the closely related Hunting of the Snark. I decided to do some research on the subject. I asked one of my friends from the Tolkien Newsgroup, a professor at Oxford, where Carroll taught, to look through Carroll's papers. The search proved fruitless. I then remembered that the Morgan Library right here in New York possessed a large collection of Carroll artifacts. I received permission to go through them and found the following stanza on a page with verses from the Jabberwock. Verse from the Jabberwock Through his frumtious eye he spied. If anyone is planning on going with a small (or large) group, would you be able to find some way to let other Frucon people know and possibly join in your group. I've never been to this event (Frucon, that is) and know very little about what to expect, how things are organized, etc. Also, someone mentioned a drum circle a few weeks ago, but I inadvertently wiped out my entire list of posts that week, so couldn't respond. Any word on that and how to get in touch with the people who might be doing it? I don't really want to drag my drum all the way up to Canada if all I'm going to do with it is bang on it alone and drive the people in adjoining rooms crazy. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Feb 2000 02:55:48 GMT From: ezloanz@connectfree.co.uk Subject: ADV: Borrow up to 125% of your home's value.
