I'm also reading that book, Madame Bovary. In my "English Lit" class for High School (senior)... Yet the book is French.. I don't really care about her, it's boring, I understand. Just felt like telling you that, since I'm really bored. Also, I'm going up to Quebec Canada. I'm in the Clifton High School Mustang Marching Band (The Show Band of the Northeast) from Clifton, NJ. First off Jay, don't feel bad I have very fond memories of Father Guido Sarducci too! :-) Secondly, didn't know that. That's pretty interesting. Maybe I'll have to check it out. I always like Don Novello. rox ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ rdfinch@mindspring.com http://roxanne.finch.org Like an empty canvas, hanging on the wall You're not sure what to show them, so you show them nothing at all All The Saints --Tory Cassis ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Feb 2000 21:35:12 -0500 From: "Kate Leahy" Subject: Re: Fruvous on Radio >I was in Buffalo two weeks ago and heard 'I Will Hold On" on a Toronto radio >station. Just curious. "I Will Hold On" was released as the first single from "Thornhill" back in August. I guess what we're wondering is: Do you see Jian and Dave sledding in the woods with sled dogs? They start the tape singing "Blow Wind Blow" in a snowy environment (I forget the name of the town - Whitehorse(?) maybe?) Them sitting in a kitchen doing an interview with Jian wearing glasses and the Fruvous vest? Dave singing part of "Lazy Boy" in the studio? Do you see a teenybopper crowd screaming "Moxy Fruvous Rules!" and "Moxy Fruvous are the Polka Kings of the 90s" or something like that? If this is part of "Moxy Fruvous World," then it looks to be the "Adrienne Clarkson Presents" special from the early 90s. Sorry if this post is a repeat to anyone - but I guess we were looking for specific scenes from this special since it was broadcast on the CDN bravo and not the American one. I'm fairly open and forthright about this whole fruvous fandom thing. Got the LN and Thornhill posters hanging in the cube, told most folks about the stretch of shows in that November-December period, etc. Thought all was cool. Today, I'm fiddling with my wallpaper on my computer, and found a neat Guster pic, and put it up. A coworker comes over and notices it, and says, "Oh, are those your friends?" I mentally scratch my head, as this is obvioiusly a professional photo, and she, being an art director, should recognize this... me: No, it's a band. her: Yeah-- that "foxy" band. me: No, not them. It's a different band. her: Oh, are you friends with them too? me: huh? her: Like you are with those other guys. (pointing to the posters) me: What? No-- I'm not friends with either of the bands. I'm just a fan. her (now closely examining the signatures and stuff on the MF posters): So you *don't* know these guys? me: no, not personally. her: Oh my God, you're obsessed! ___________________ heh--little did I know that for the past 15 months she's been under the impression that I am a close personal aquaintance of the band, and that *this* was why I choose to traipse the NJ-and-immediate-perimeter area for the shows. ~jen (my reply: "Obsessed? This should be played in the States too, but as I do not live there I couldn't tell you. The American radio stations that are received in Ontario do not play fruvous (unconfirmed). I only know of two radio stations in Ontario that play them(There could be more). Mix 99.9 (Toronto) and 101.1 The River (Niagara Falls). ttyl anna Carrie759 wrote: > I was in Buffalo two weeks ago and heard 'I Will Hold On" on a Toronto radio > station. Just curious I don't know if its a single but WFUV has played it many times in NYC. I don't know where you live but check out the public radio stations for one that plays fruvous. Hee. I experience this a lot, but it happens more at times like last Thursday as I'm standing with friends post-Guster show in Towson. Someone had just said to me "So, do you, like - *know* them?" and I replied "Nah . . . just a fan." Literally five minutes later Brian Rosenworcel came out, saw me, walked over, hugged me, and said "Kate! Long time no see!"
