does anyone remember "Livewire"? I ask this because I met my husband when the
band he was in was a guest on the show and I was doing their publicity ... it
was filmed at the Ed Sullivan Theater in NYC (where the Beatles played!!!) and
we met in the dressing room there ... talk about meeting cute, no?

I see the cause of your sadness ^_^

Although I don't mean to defend Nickelodeon (you were quite close in
your spelling ^_^), but you have to keep in mind YCDTOTV was
*worshipped* here in the U.S., meanwhile people hadn't the slightest
clue to it's exsistance in Canada ^_^

Hence the slime made Nickelodeon what it is today, so it only seems
right for them to adapt it.

But it isn't right, I agree with you ^_^  The least they could do is pay
homage to Roger Price...

Oh wow!!!  Me too!!!  I mean I may have been a year or two younger, but
I remember that *exactly.*  This is incredible ^_^

Sadly it got old after the first two seasons, when half the cast left
;.;  Nick ran it again during their 25th anniversary thing, and I
watched it everytime it was on ^_^

Yeah yeah!  I taped a pair of episodes from when Nick had their 25th
anniversary, both are with Alanis (I myself remember her, she was skinny
and had blonde hair ^_^), and the second (Parties) I remember quite
well.  Maybe because Alasdair was in it, I don't know ^_^

ooh, which girl was it that you lived with? i remember
a lot of them :) YTV should bring it back!

I also remember watching and loving Tommy Tricker and
the Stamp Traveller, but vaguely. This is the little
red-haired kid who shrunk himself on stamps and got to
go around the world?  It reminds me of this really
cheesy Canadian kids movie called "the Dog Who Stopped
the War." Anyone seen this?? I loved this movie, but
every time i watched it I had to leave the room at the
end because I was too upset when the dog died!!

Actually, it's Shadowy *Men*, but it's still pretty interesting. I always 
think of that band when I listen to Splatter^2.

I never saw the original sketch on KitH, but Bruce McCulloch included a 
recording of the song on his CD, Shame-Based Man, which I got for Christmas. 
Fruvous is actually what inspired me to go back and try watching KitH again 
(I think cos there seem to be a lot of people who are fans of both), and now 
I love the show.

Carey, who doesn't own a tv but seems to be posting a disturbing amount of 
tv-related nonsense this week. hmm...

Canadian - Toronto to be specific.  Featuring the wonderful Jeff Hyslop (who 
later went on to be the Phantom of the Opera - I could never picture that!) 
as a mannequin in a department store (modelled I believe after the 
now-defunct Simpson's store).  Jeff was a special mannequin because as long 
as he wore a magic hat, he came to life - but take the hat away and he was a 
mannequin again.

Also in the store was Jody (I think?) who wore a horrible pink jumper suit, 
and worked the night shift creating displays in the toy store.  Then there 
was Sam, the night inspector (he was a puppet type character).  And of 
course Muffy, who was a mouse who lived in the wall.

And my gosh, I can't believe I remember all those names!  Most of the 
adventures took place throughout the store, with some outside the store.  
There was also an annoying mime that they used to fill up time.

Sara, realizing how much of her brain space is really wasted...

premiere at grandparents' house in Ohio. I was kinda mad that I had to
miss part of it, to eat dinner with my uncle. WHat a fine show.   That
one's definitely going on my TV nostalgia web site.. one of the days..

I remember that show!  Wasn't it hosted my Mark Something? The guy who hosted Double Dare.  And there was a talking computer.  And I remember once that in order to get the computer to shut up, Mark told it to find a word that rhymed with "orange".  

Hey Dude and Roundhouse...Hey Dude was my brother's favorite show.  We use to watch it almost everyday.  Mr. Ernst didn't like carrots.  That's one big thing I remember.  Also, Melody and Brad and Danny and Ted and Buddy were the main characters.  I remember that.  

Roundhouse I use to love watching on Snick.  I loved that show.  I use to stay up at night and watch it while talking to my friend Melissa, so we could make "commentary" (I was in 3rd grade I think)  I remember talking to her about Clinton becoming president so it must be around 1992.  Am I getting my dates right?  I think so.

I've enjoyed reading this thread... it shows very clearly who the Canadian are 
and who the Yanks are. YCDTOTV was produced in Ottawa, by Carleton 
Productions, a now defunct arm of Ottawa's CTV station, CJOH.

Yes, Alanis was on the show, for a little under two years. But, who can 
remember the old, old cast? Kevin? Christine (aka Moose)? Adam? When Abby 
Hagyard wasn't on the show? We're talking late 70s early 80s here.

The program went under because Nick stopped buying episodes. Not because 
Canadians stopped supporting it. Carleton Production's parent company closed 
the show down when Nick stopped buying episodes -- the show did not lose money 
on its Canadian audience. The production company (as many private production 
houses do in Canada when they don't get their way) cried foul and protested 
they couldn't live off what the Canadian sales were bringing in. But hey, they 
closed the year after they canned YCDTOTV because they no longer had a "star" 
show to market. Serves 'em right.

And in case you were wondering... I started and led a YCDTOTV fan club in Gr. 
6... where we even managed to get Kevin Kubulsheski (see above) to come into 
our school and watch a few episodes with us.
