And >it's not even "look at me" to a specific person; it's sort of just a >general >feeling to oneself or a declaration to the world - after all, the speaker >doesn't care about the other person (supposedly) enough to even >address any >more than his song to them. Yeah, and also when you look at the choice of lyrics from other songs that are in Hate Letter 1. "If I loved you half as much" 2. "The city had a hot-rock band" 3. "Big-fat lie to the pan man" 4. "once in a while to hold your head high" also give the impression that the protagonist of the song doesn't (excuse my language) give a shit about the one they loved (or were close to) before. 1. The lyric can be twisted to mean, if I love you half as much now as I did before I might still be interested in you. When you hear it in "Half as Much" it does give the impression that if the narrator loved his honey half as much they would still be pining away for each other. But in Hate Letter with the context and the tone it gives a totally different impression. 2. Well this one doesn't give nearly as much insight as the first one but it is still there, slightly. The twist of the original lyric gives me the impression that the narrator isn't paying attention to the details of the other person anymore. They just interp the things as they want to and if it sound good then they just leave it. Almost like a form of denial by only keeping the good memories even though you hate the person they originated from. 3. Lying is what I think to be the most sincere form of hate. When you start to lie to someone you don't care about their feelings, you don't care how they will view you, and you don't care about what trouble your little lie led them to. 4. Finally this excerpt is a taunt to the person referred to in the hate letter. Kind of like, go ahead try to break free of this relationship and make me feel bad about it by not caring. Almost like a dare to the receiver to try to come free of this without suffering a loss. Anyway I think that I've said enough for now... - -- Cara Kozack "It's a reference to a _____ that you've never even heard of by\in a _____ that you probably don't even like." I think I wanna make a story containing lots of Fruvous dreams...Hmm..yes. There have been quite a few in the past that people have posted. Damn, shoulda saved them then. Archive time! If you have a Fruvous dream or story that I can incorporate into a story for my own personal amusement and potentially an English class fiction story, will you please send it to SugarFly26@aol.com? Would be much appreciated. Thanks:) - ----------> Ln ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Jan 2000 01:14:31 GMT From: SugarFly26@aol.com Subject: Re: pointless dream..Murray is in the bass.
