But as for stage banter, I wuld love them to include the Think Glocally/We Are Hippies and Geeks improv from the infamous Troc show, and the whole Way to Go Murray thing (which I still haven't heard). Despite his sincerity he was not allowed to continue his romance and the Italian company whisked her home to Rome. Ten years later, when he was 36, and still pining for his prima donna, a correspondence was initiated by a 46-year-old wealthy widow, Nadezdba. They exchanged more than 1,100 letters but never met face-to-face. Antonina then came into his life. A former music student, she started sending him letters. When she threatened to commit suicide unless they met, Tchaikovsky agreed. Somehow Antonina convinced him to fall in love with her, he proposed, she accepted, and they were married. It was the start of a long unconsummated marriage! Antonina was having baby after baby, but all from different fathers, none from her husband. Nadezdba was still writing letters, and she offered Tchaikovsky a large sum of money to abandon Antonina. Finally, Antonina was put into an asylum where she spent the last 20 years of her life. Peter Tchaikovsky had a nervous breakdown and attempted suicide. He had to stop making summer visits to his sister's home when he realized he had fallen in love with Bob, her young son. Peter Tchaikovsky's death is a mystery never satisfactorily explained to this day. Some reports suggest that he died after drinking impure water accidentally. Others suggest that he was offered a simple choice: Either drink the impure water certain to be fatal, or have his involvement with the nephew of a Russian aristocrat revealed. All of this makes you wonder how he ever found the peace of mind to write the wonderful music which is still played and enjoyed to this day. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 Jan 2000 00:52:04 GMT From: Melanie Subject: Re: Placemat (was: Our vanishing fur) II Spin0za1 wrote: >>Tchaicovsky's private Life >>All of this makes you wonder how he ever found the peace of mind to write the wonderful music which is still played and enjoyed to this day.<< Perhaps if he'd had the peace of mind he would not have been able to write the wonderful music. melanie ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 Jan 2000 00:52:51 GMT From: "Carey Farrell" Subject: Re: GE&H on Kids Corner countdown Rai-Marie wrote: > AUGH! I read this post abou this celtic group and generally I won't click on links, but this time I did. Then, I saw there really wasn't any updated info on their tour dates, so I emailed them... About 15 minutes later I get a response from the afore mentioned Donogh (whoa) and there was a show tonight at 7 and then another at midnight.... So, I go. I find out, however, it is a private performance and you have to be on a "list" to get in. Well, I figure the gutarist and I are old friends at this point, there's no reason why I shouldn't be on the list. Well, I wasn't, but a few minutes go by and the pipe player ( i forget his name which is terrible cuz he got me in) puts me on the list after I tell him my story. Well, the show is incredible (with the exception of this middle aged "groupie" who, though very pleasant, was just slightly disturbing). After the show, I go over and talk to Donogh (I could only assume it was him because of the guitar stapped to his chest) and after he cleared up his equipment he comes and sits down and talks with me at the table I'm sitting at. He really was a sweetheart! The music was great the band was very approachable.....it as a good evening.
