Here's my story on last night's 7.0 earthquake in So. Cal. (My first REAL earthquake experience): I was jostled awake in the middle of the night, and having gone through couple of smaller ones, I instantly knew it was an earthquake. I thought it would quit in a matter of seconds, but it didn't. I started looking for my dogs to see if they were in a safe place when BOOM! It felt like the whole building dropped about 10 feet. Seeings how there are two more stories above me, I imagined the building completely collapsing and my body being pulled out of the rubble on the news 3 days later, and it really freaked me out, so I ran into the doorway of my bedroom. My dog, Judy, was right behind me. My other dog, Murphy...well, I think he might have still been asleep. (He's pretty old.) Know what? It does feel safer in a doorway! The rest of the building was swaying, and it wasn't terribly unpleasant nor scary, but it was just so LONG. Finally, the place stopped rocking, and I went back to bed. I got to sleep pretty quickly, but I was awakened by an aftershock sometime later. It was pretty cool. It wasn't as scary as the 3.2 one that was centered in Encino a year or so ago, nor was it as bouncy. (That one had me frozen in my bed and afraid to move. Of course, it only lasted a few seconds instead of the minute this one did.) This one was more of a rolling one, so it was actually pretty cool. Anyone else have a story? Here goes: From South/Southwest of Philadelphia: However you prefer to get to I-95, do so. Take I-95 North to I-476 North (the Blue Route) to where it connects to the PA Turnpike (I-276). You want I-276 East. Make sure you go toward New Jersey, not toward Harrisburg or Allentown or some fool place like that. :) Take I-276 East to Fort Washington, Exit # 26. (first exit, about 4-5 miles.) It's a 50-cent toll. Once through the tollbooth take highway 309 South 4.5 miles to the ***Glenside*** exit of Easton Road. Follow Easton Road for 1.7 miles to Keswick Avenue. (you will be passing through a couple of small main-street type business districts the way, will pass Beaver College, and will cross under a railroad bridge.) Make the right onto Keswick Avenue; the theater is on the left, about a half-block down the street. From Central/North Jersey, New York and New England: take NJ Turnpike South to Exit 6, the crossover for the PA Turnpike. Take PA Turnpike West to Exit 26 and follow above directions. From South Jersey: take the bridge of your choice to I-76 West (Schuylkill Expressway) to I-476 North; follow above directions. From western points accessed by PA Turnpike: take Turnpike East to exit 26 and follow above directions. From eastern PA: if you're in the vicinity of 309 you can take it all the way to Easton Avenue; if not, get yourself to PA Turnpike exit #26 and follow above directions. Highway 611 also will get you to Easton Avenue in Willow Grove, and you can follow that into Glenside. (Whether you take 309 or 611 north or south to get to Easton Avenue, and then make a left or a right onto Easton Avenue, depends on where in the area you are starting from, of course. :) ) I hope to see a whole flock of you there! - -- Lori ********************* start out straight but I get to meander ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 Oct 1999 19:17:33 GMT From: "Mary Krause" Subject: Collingswood show Someone asked a couple days ago about the Collingswood show. I think this one may be the weirdest i've had yet. It starts out i'm sitting in what looks like a high school cafeteria, there are tables set up with table cloths and nice center-pieces. I'm sitting next to a good friend of mine and dominating conversation with my excited blabber about "Fruvous's first show since the inditement". At the rear of the room are 2 smallish speakers, and a whole bunch of musical instraments(guitars, drums, wistles,a banjo, an accordian, a violin ). Most notably was the banjo (obviously Dave-o's), newly repainted, with a picture of a 1 year old girl on it and it said "happy birthday little miss fruhead, we love you too". I found this to be a lovely tribute to their fans and babbled about how nice they were for quite a while. Also notably was an instrament that I am convinced does not exist outside the relms of my unconscious mind. It looked like a violin, only the body (forgive my lack of musical terminology) of the instrument under the hole was about 2 feet long (it was long and thin...very weird looking). Finally the lads arived, shackled at the ankles to one another, led by Jude. Murray had handcuffs on (apparently he was not well behaved. bad diety!). Also, Jian was not Jian, He was Jason Reiser (I think that's his name, from the show "Mad About You") but we called him Jian. They took the "stage". They played songs that they dont seem to often play (eg. Bittersweet) which excited me. I wrote down a setlist in the dream, but I dont remember it. But they played terribly. There Harmonies were off, sometimes they were even singing different songs. (during Bittersweet, Dave-o started singing Pisco, apperently operating under the impression that all Murray songs are basically the same). The audience didnt cheer, with the exeption of me and another fruhead who I sometimes called Matt, and other times called Chris. Finally, they left. Three walked off in one direction, Dave-o snuck out the back. Chris/Matt and I cheered for an enchore. They *ran* back on the stage (sans Dave), bowed *very* quickly, then scurried away again. Every body left. Except for me, and the security guard. I slepped on one of the tables. I got up from my sleep, and went to turn on the light that was above my head. It didnt go on. I went to see if the bulb was screwed in well, only to find that it was bent horribly out of shape, i tried to fix it. I heard maniacle laughter. The light fixture came crashing down on my "bed". The security guard woke up, found "Jian", arrested him. And I heard the maniacle laughter again, NOT coming from Jian, but coming from Matt/Chris, who was hiding by the window. Apparently, he was trying to kill me. I Tried to explain this to the security guard, but he wouldnt listen to me. that's my dream.
