For me being 18, I don't have a cerfew to follow, but I was very tired this morning and didn't wake up till about 12:30 pm, and not even being able to go to school since my last class had already started., but it was worth it. Conan didn't air until 1:00 in the morning (am) from where I'm from (Ontario) because of the game. I didn't go to bed until 2:00, because I want to tape it and add this to my collection of fruvous videos and interviews, and shows that I have taped over the previous years. Did > anyone pick up the a capella intro they did to the song? Well, one advantage of being in the Midwest is that I only had to stay up until 1 am--from one who is usually asleep by 11 pm! I slept through parts of Leno and Conan while trying to be sure to catch MF when it came one. If I weren't so VCR-challenged (like apparently some others of you are also--proves you don't have to be an electronic whiz to enjoy good music! Thank goodness!!), I could have set the VCR and taped while I slept, but I can't get that thing to work the way I want it to! Anyhow, I stayed up and was able to tape the parts of the show that mentioned the band as well as their performance. (I didn't tape the whole show--not interested in seeing those particular guests again--I couldn't STAND Goat-boy on SNL, though Pesci impressions were good, and I'm not a fan of Buffy or spin-offs.) I have a total of about 5 or 6 minutes on tape, and could try to make a copy--will have to have my son do this if anyone wants to send a blank (again part of being VCR-challenged). I was VERY proud of the Fruheads that were there! You did a great job of promoting "our" band by your vocal-ness when they were mentioned early on, introduced, and after their performance. Made be proud to be one of you, even though I don't think they heard my applause any further than outside my living room window -- and if someone was out there, I don't want to know about it! The guys did a great job on Splatter Splatter--a little nervous at first, I think, but they warmed up quickly, I think. (I don't know how a band with their energy can get pumped up to do ONE song! I'm sure that was a challenge.) As for my observation as a fan, I was frustrated from the standpoint that watching them perform only one song was a teaser. It just made me want more! It was great, though! I hope LOTS of people new to the FruCrew were watching and listening. I really hoped they'd get a little air-time to talk with Conan, but apparently that happens very seldom with musical guests on this show. Now, just can't wait for November 2 in central Iowa! It's a pretty small venue, so I really hope they'll do Gulf War Song off-mic. It's the perfect place to do this song, and should be a good audience for said song as well. (This is a request/hint for any of the band who happens to read this post--nudge, nudge, Jian!) *Lois (Fogeyfru) ------------------------------ Date: 13 Oct 1999 18:24:40 GMT From: limezinger@aol.commmmmmmm (jolene.) Notice: before the other two guests...teeny, tiny pauses before he spilled out their name. Before Fruvous: a slight squint (perhaps a wince? knowing the noise fruheads can make) a pause and then a yell (perhaps knowing no one would hear him if he voiced it normally) Then, of course...at the end...you get the same reaction from him...a bit of hestitation before he says their name and then kapow! Go Frufans! I suppose it's because I find Conan so annoying now that I was pleased to see the wince/squint. But then I may just be a horrible person. At any rate, the tiny subtleties of the host also played into their small but cataclysmic performance that day. I just thought that was funny and therefore worth mentioning. :)Carol ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Oct 1999 12:02:00 -0700 From: timiny Subject: Re: *argh* In article <19991013142440.02742.00000584@ng-ci1.aol.com>, limezinger@aol.commmmmmmm (jolene.) wrote: > >or at least let me know where I might find > >one or when next the show shall next be reran. > once i noticed that it was delayed a half hour, i cringed knowing > people who > set their vcrs for the regular slot probably missed it... but > there is good > news! .. > unless late night tv is delayed again in a week, set your vcr for > 10/20 @ 3:05- > 4:07 (the last minutes are important because that's when the > musical guest is) > As with a bunch of other people I'm an old, working type who goes to bed between 10pm and 11pm.
