When I saw them in Saskatoon, the show was decent, but a few nights later in Regina, the show was fan-freakin'-tastic. The college I attended lo, these many years ago, had an a capella choir, of which I was a member. It was awesome! All of our music was done in that format, and we had beautiful music to do. We went on tours (as do most college musical groups, I think) throughout the US and Europe (unfortunately I missed the Europe tour the year I could have gone as I was in Mexico at the time). It was wonderful to be a part of that music organization. The main choir at Central College (Pella, IA--a small liberal arts college affiliated with the Reformed Church in America) is still an a capella group, still performing outstandingly. Gotta love those harmonies~the voice is a beautiful instrument! *Lois (Fogeyfru) -- glad to be back in contact with the ng, though I agree in some ways it was a time saver ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Oct 1999 09:20:43 GMT From: LSan497884@aol.com Subject: OT, sort of--Susan Werner Last Sunday evening (10/10), we went to see Susan Werner perform in Ames, IA, at a small venue on the Iowa State campus. It was a wonderful show! One of the best things that I've received from Moxy Fruvous (besides the band itself!) is the opportunity to come to know Susan Werner's music. Don't get me wrong--I love MF and am not abandoning ("a-band-doning"??) them for another musical performer. I love the wit, energy, spontaneity, social commentary, etc that is Fruvous, among other things, but Susan feeds a different part of me. She is also witty, spontaneous, etc, but she has a female perspective to her music when talking about relationships, emotions, outlook on life, etc. that gets to me at a more visceral level. Her live shows are fun and entertaining--I caught myself sitting there with a big grin on my face throughout the show, when I wasn't feeling the pathos of some of her songs. She's a wonderful musician; feeds a part of my soul that MF doesn't. I think some others out there are also big fans--I'd never have heard of her without some mention from someone here. Hopefully, we'll be able to see her fairly often out here since she's from Iowa (saw her live twice since this summer and listened to her on a live radio show originating from one of the other state university stations a couple of weeks ago). I'll always love Fruvous, but am grateful for the additional enrichment they've brought to my life. *Lois (Fogeyfru) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Oct 1999 08:11:09 -0400 From: bsnow Subject: Re: Any news out there? Yes, but for priceline.com, you have to be leaving from an American state, so Edmonton-TO wouldn't work (unless you were willing to get yourself to an American airport somehow). In Toronto, we have "Flight Centers" popping up all over the place - you just walk in and they use their computers to find you the cheapest available flights. I don't know much about them, but maybe they have them or something similar in Edmonton too that you could check out.
