I don't know what part Jian specifically has (I think tenor, though someone once told me they were all baritones and bad ones, but this wasn't a fruhead.) It depends a lot on how much higher than him you can sing, but if its not a whole lot, you're probably a tenor or an alto. Not being sexist (Cause I am a girl) but girls who can sing low-ish are usually altos in my experience. That didn't help much. - ------------> Ln ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 07 Sep 1999 18:55:00 -0400 From: Donna Hunt Subject: Re: 4 part harmony... delicious! I enjoy it quite a bit. It is indeed a CD with both yiddish and english singing. The disc is a rather odd cross between rock and traditional yiddish music and well over half instrumental. It's a great mix - especially if you're the sort of person who's into strange genre crossing music like that. So I'd recommend it - but don't buy it if you're looking for Fruvous. Thanx. they're all baritones with slightly different ranges. in fact, most men are baritones. tenor is a very difficult range to sing in, and bass is just rare. it's possible to train your voice to sing outside your range, but you have to really concentrate. My comment is that I feel that way about a lot of songs; depending on the mood you're in, it can totally change the way you hear a song, or feel about a song. Or if there's some special meaning behind even the happiest song, it can seem not so happy depending on if you're thinking about your personal special meaning behind it, and a sad song could seem happy in the right light. One of my favorite Thornhill tracks is If Only You Knew, and sometimes listening to it, it makes me happy, and sometimes I get really sad or almost like a feeling of...I guess loneliness. Some songs can just make you feel really lonely, which is kinda different from sad, and sometimes that happens with IWHO too. >However, if I get sad listening to IWHO, all I need to do is remember Jian's >face when he sings, "And I'll hold my ground when people stop and stare."
