I thought for sure I was the only one who felt this way about the song. I like the song, but I strongly dislike the album version. I've been commenting about the lack of emotion on the recording since I first heard it. It sounds like they were going for a more radio friendly song by adding drums, increasing the bass in the mix, and making the guitar really distant and lifeless. All they really did was make a rather nice song rather bland. On the same note: why kill the backing harmonies in the 3rd and 4th verses? These were really nice touches that added to the song. As someone commented in their review (can't remember who exactly, forgive me), it sounded empty when they weren't there. I totally agree. And it may be because I come from the bush in Northern Alberta, but I say "eh" an awful lot. Also, the people I grew up with throw a lot of Cree words into conversation. Another possible venue for a headlining show would be the Viper Room. Of course, if they repeat their House of Blues opening spot, they might end up at The Palace, or even the Universal Amphitheatre. My guess for the most likely place this trip would be either the Whisky, the Roxy, or the Viper Room. When I briefly spoke with Mike after the HOB show, he said he preferred playing the Roxy since it was their crowd. I can understand that. So, I'm suspecting they'll play a smaller venue this time so they can headline. Again, I'm only speculating. I don't know how educated my guesses would be, but I would suspect a Ventura County show (Santa Barbara area), an LA show, and a San Diego show would be pretty logical routing. They're major metro areas with good venues, and they're all a couple hours apart from each other. San Bernadino is approximately an hour and a half or so due east of LA (depending on traffic.) So I suspect the Ventura County and San Diego shows would somewhere in the neighborhood of 3-4 hours driving time one way. (I'm completely guessing. I've never driven from San Bernadino to either place. Maybe someone else here has? I'd be interested in knowing a more exact guesstimate.) Depending on your prior commitments, you should be able to catch all three shows pretty easily. I don't think it would make much sense to go back to San Bernadino after each show, though. But, you will be definitely close enough to catch at least one show--if not all of them. Again, nothing has been determined, and depending on venue availability, etc, sometimes tours do really stupid things. They may be end up playing San Diego first, Bakersfield the next night, and Los Angeles the third. Or...maybe they'll have three consecutive shows opening for Ricky Martin in Los Angeles. :-( Cookie Just waiting for the dates to be confirmed! ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 4 Sep 1999 13:23:07 -0400 From: "Tim Deegan" Subject: Indie Record Stores i saw that you wanted a list of nice stores like this and i immediately thought *record archive!* but you already have that one... *g* Maggie "You've gotta burn to shine" -- Ben Lee ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 4 Sep 1999 11:14:02 -0600 From: happygirl@fruhead.com (Dorky Spice) Subject: Re: OT:HUM: Frhead Lessons In article <37CF60D3.2ABD@2cowherder.com>, cookie@2cowherder.com says... > > Damn, did it again, didn't I? > Which?
