I've been a bit of "lurker" for a while, having only this spring been brought into the Fruvous fold by a diligent friend who decided to play "Live Noise" over and over and over again on a 6 hour drive. Suffice to say, by spin #2 I decided to pull over and buy myself a copy! I'll save all the typical gushing for later; it's a rather long a sordid list that runs the gamet from musical to humor to Canadian to serious praise. The only bummer is that I haven't seen them live (YET) which I hope to remedy when they spin through Ohio soon. If any is interested, I have two-CD sets of the live show (10/10/98) @ Martyrs in Chicago that I'd be willing to trade for other live tapes/ CDs/DATs. I think it's unnatural not to eat everything you possibly can." Other stations I listen to that I've heard them on occasionally have been WMBR 88.1FM and WUMB 91.9FM. The latter is not really a college station, but it's an all folk & roots music station. Frutapers (or Mrs. Tapers I guess) are pretty easy to spot. They suffer from Jason Reiser Syndrome, which causes you to get enough slick taping equiptment that the quality of the recordings you make increases month to month and year to year. I'm still in the early stages of the disease, but I've seen Josh carrying enough stuff to rival even the infamous Jason Resier. I'm also about 8 feet tall with 3 eyes and an arm growing out of my back. Or just 6'6". One of the two. You choose which, though I'd prefer you'd choose the one that would still let all my clothes fit me. Have half the concert the fast paced, funny, and satirical songs then the other half the more serious ones? I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!!! One of the main reasons why we all love their music is the variety and how they can go from something like KoS to somthing like Fly. It's what makes the band unique. Anyway you CAN'T have Fly, Down From Above, and GGAMTY all the a row, it would be just too depressing. I'm going to retract my eariler statement and say that IWHO and Horseshoes would not be a good song after Fly. Their are plenty of saterical and semi-serious songs that can make the cut.
