[1] Susan Werner was GREAT! I went to the concert expecting to like her, but I was blown away. I even bought her newest CD after the concert, which is a great feat, because I NEVER impulse buy. I always plan when I'm going to spend money and buy new CD's. But, I digress. Anyway, my friend [2] even bought on of her CD's, which was amazing because 1. she never buys CDs, and 2. she's not really into "that" [3] style of music. Susan is also really nice. She even thought I was 18, [4] after I told her I couldn't get into Frucon II concerts 'cause it was 19+. Greg Brown, on the other hand, was a little too blusy for me. I was talking during his set, so I decided to go out by the river where people couldn't hear me. Although most of my favorite places in OC are take-out (Mac and Manco's, sure, but don't discount my favorite Voltaco's) there are a couple of places to actually sit down and have a meal if you're prepared to wait for seating. I forget the name of the restaurant on Asbury between 12th and 13th streets, starts with an S, but they're renowned for their home-cooked meals and fresh pies and reasonable prices. Torey's, on Asbury too I think, has the best milkshakes in OC as well as hamburgers and like. They're all done up like a 50's soda fountain and serve Coke in the little glass bottles (but get the Stewart's root beer instead). My hands-down favorite, though, is Yesterday's on 34th street right over the bridge towards Marmora: since it's technically out of OC, liquor is available (and important consideration for me, at least) and they have decent food and, on the right days, a yummy bread pudding. - -kimberly - -hates those summer lines at the 55th St. WaWa ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Jul 1999 09:56:56 GMT From: CheesemonkeyGem Subject: Re: The Formidable Music Videos >They were played on MuchMusic in the beginning to a >point, but then stopped >abruptly about the time, well, everything stopped >abruptly after Bargainville >*grin* actually, suprisingly, Down From Above got quite a bit of airplay... even a while after wood came out. i would catch it on muchmusic every so often. i love the video :) its one of my favs... they shot it down where i live (in port dalhousie) and i LOVE the scenery... the whole place is so quaint and awesome. and i love the carousel shot! - -jen === ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The trouble with the world today is that there is no music to give you a preview of what's to come ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ _____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I saw TMBG at Odeon last October, and after the show, the staff treated us pretty much the same way as the Troc staff treated everyone in February. That is to say, if we weren't using the restrooms or buying stuff, we had to leave, and they were very obnoxious about it. Not to mention that the overhang outside the Odeon is crawling with... um... many things... large things... most of them having 8 legs... ick. I'd really like to see Fruvous play the Agora instead. It's a double venue, so if it turns out that the show is more popular than expected, they can move it from the club area (with room for about 200-300 people at most) to the theater, which has a lot more space.
