Yeah... that's a question I had too.... And the answer I got.... (who was it? I can't remember now...) was that it makes it alot easier for the whole percentage profit thing... The festival gets their percentage.....(20%, or whatever) of what the vendors make...... The "funny money" is to assure that they can't be ripping off the venue by not claiming some revenue.... they have to trade in the falcon ridge bills to get real money... and so it's easier to figure out the real percentage that the venue/farm owners/organizers/promoters get. I can definately see how this would be the case... so I forgive them for that slight inconvenience..... (I only went to the money booth twice.....I just kind of got the amount I'd figured I'd need for the weekend.... and underestimated, so I had to go back once more...) And as for the impulse buying thing... I think people are actually MORE likely to impulse-buy...... if only because what they're spending isn't "real" money..... so to some people, $2.50 in falcon-ridge-bucks seems reasonable for a 12oz. glass of lemonaide..... whereas, if you were in the real world... having to pay two DOLLARS... and 50 CENTS... it would seem really steap.... :) nate ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Jul 1999 04:56:39 GMT From: Raenfaerie@aol.com Subject: Re: Meyers-Briggs add me too. apparently all 1% of the population is to be found right here! - -mm- "ferris bueller, you're my hero" > well, add me on as another INFP. took the thing 4 times, exactly the same > each time! guess i'm not quite as interesting as all you split-personalities! > > > ~jess ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Jul 1999 05:13:09 GMT From: Jamal Rogers Subject: Myers-Briggs According to the test, I'm an INFP. No kidding; this really is remarkable. I've taken the MBTI numerous times since my teenage years (my dad's a psychologist & gives the test regularly, sometimes teaches a class about it) - no matter how I deliberately try to skew the results, I always end up as an INFP. Now, I *know* that INFP is one of the rarest types, found in 1-2% of the population at large. Of course, we're an introspective type and enjoy taking these tests maybe more than some others, but still, there's quite the disproportionate number of us here. I've always been struck by the fact that so many of us describe ourselves as misfits in the world, but have all come together to form a different kind of community where we feel a true sense of belonging (maybe for the first time), despite all our differences. I've long suspected that it is a matter of personality type (what kind of people are hippies and geeks?) - - whatever it is, if it's bringing people together who thought they were alone, in my opinion it can't be anything but a good thing. k@ or maybe that Keirsey version is just weirdly biased ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Jul 1999 07:31:10 GMT From: "Leah Bender" Subject: Re: Fruhead common interests > I'll have to find >the Dwarf fans. *gives a full-Rimmer salute* How can I help you?
