You should be able to pick it up through most of the city. During the Summer, the high schoolers without an education are off on the farm or something, so it is WXPN pretty much 24/7. WRNR, 103.1. In Annapolis. My best description is a commercial version of WXPN. Take a listen at www.wrnr.com. There is also another cool station north of Baltimore, but I don't remember their letters. (They sponsored the Fruvous show at the Vault in November.) Plus, Johns Hopkins (WJHU) and Baltimore City CC (WBJC, 91.5) both have cool stations, with JHU being slightly cooler. A quick rule of thumb: the commercial stations here suck. However, what we have in suckiness, we make up by having more than 200 stations, especially if you count all of the ones from DC. 104.3 does decent classic rock, I've been told. I don't like the genre, so I wouldn't know. 100.7 used to totally rock in that department (so I was told), but they play country now. - -- chad at radix dot net ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Jun 1999 22:23:55 -0400 From: truztno1 Subject: Re: OT (sorta): Polite Request >>did i tell you that when i normally babble, it's incoherently and >>incessantly? >oh, like we babble coherently and cessantly? Thanks :) Like everyone else said, WKHS (when the stupid high schoolers aren't playing their nonsense, and they're broadcasting XPN instead) and RNR are probably your best bets. One time I even heard MBLABOA on RNR, but it was at 5AM or something, so I wouldn't hold my breath. I used to listen to 104.3, the classic rock station, all the time. Last time I checked, it was really heavy on the Fleetwood Mac/Eagles/Billy Joel side of classic rock, if you like that sort of stuff. There's a Towson radio station (from Towson U) that broadcasts a Celtic/folk show on Saturdays from 5-7 PM, and if you're lucky you can get WETA (90.9 FM), the NPR affiliate from DC, which has an awesome folk show on Saturdays from 9PM to 1AM.
