That is what I assumed was going to be the case, especially after Tuesday night, but I don't think it happened that way. I really don't think that a show with =6= wood songs is one "for the masses." They hardly played that many when wood was the current release. Plus, there was no GEAH (which wasnot missed at all!) >Tuesday was a 10/10 on my scale while > this was a 9/10. That seems to jibe with the way Jian said he felt about the shows. For my part (and I'll hazard for the part of what passes for mainstream opinion around here) I'd reverse that. The band was clearly having lots of fun with stuff on Tuesday night, but the energy on Wednesday is what made it a "10" for me. My homeboy Eric(Früfan), when he was on ICQ during the year, had the alias Cheesey Monkey. And my friend Amelia(dunno if she has done the Frü) just likes the way how the words "cheese" and "monkey" go well together. On English quizzes, she often wrote about them. Our teacher was bamboozled. I think the concept of a cheesemonkey is pretty weird, but the words are cool together. Yeah. Neither show was Fruvous 101. After Tuesday, I had no idea what they could come out with to make Wednesday even compare. Tuesday was probably my second favorite show I've seen. Very complete and a well done set list that was well executed. Banter didn't slow down the set. Then Wednesday turned into a here's the rest of the rarities we didn't play yesterday set. Nuits de Reve was perfect too. I would have probably put the show around an 8 without it and an upper 9 with it. Both shows make my top 10 Fruvous shows I've seen which is saying a lot to me. Tuesday's was just completely great. The band was in great spirits. The crowd was into the show. The set list used each song to continually build and ended really truly strongly. The show peaked at Walking Spanish for me. That's a great thing to me. I've seen shows peak at the 5th song before and still be great shows (9:30 Club). Your New Boyfriend tour shows peaked regularly about the 3rd or 2nd from last song in the main set which was still good. But the Tuesday Ark show built and built and peaked at the last song of the set and that just floored me. But Nuits de Reve on Wednesday. Oooooh, man that one was incredible. - Chad ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Jun 1999 21:03:43 -0400 From: "KatieWow" Subject: Re: OC Tix on sale well, i'll be sitting right behind you, slightly left of center in the second row :). ~~kate - -- Kate Leahy kleahy@loyola.edu katiewow@frumail.org ***************************************************************** "Quite frankly, I wish the website would just go down . . . we're starting to make a little bit of money.
