So if you're out there, I'm not trying to be standoffish. There have been a series of fruheads here at MSU over the years, many of whom have moved on to even lovelier places than East Lansing. I've only been in town for a year or so. Before that, I was in Wisconsin, and I often had to drive down to Chicago to see MF. Since they sold out the Ark for two days running (snif) I imagine that they'll visit Michigan a little more often. At their first show at the Ark, they made some jokes about doing shows in other places, mentioning Lansing in the same breath as Frankenmuth, so I imagine that it's not too likely that they'll venture out here to mid-michigan. HEy HEy kiddies... i posted this to the TMBG list, cuz uh, it's more tmbg related but here goes. My bf is a correspondant for spongebath records and he was sent a japanese magazine called "KHEER" as there was a feature on a few spongebath artists. It also just happened to feature They Might Be Giants *and* the Candy Butchers. Only downside is that, apart from the names "TMBG" "CANDY BUTCHERS" "SPONGEBATH" etc. (and the pictures of the bands) everything is in japanese characters. i found a guy on the TMBG mailing list that said he'll read the characters and translate for us once i get the appropriate pages scanned. I can send you the latest news from japan about the butchers. They mentioned something about "the figgs" (which larry (GaritRN)... if you're reading the NG... any idea?) but that's all i can say right now. > I've been trying to find more of their stuff >ever >since with no luck at all ... again, you can dl songs from the candy butchers website... can't member the URL off the top of my head. i have it linked off my page but that takes some wading. if you want me to find it just ask (or maybe larry's reading this right now and will enlighten us all) :D if not, send me a blank tape and postage, i'll make ya a dub of the album :) take it easy, JOrdaN http://www2.netcom.com/~arnot/joda/bootlegs.html ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it. A new ending, as well. DARLINGTON -> "Tardy Bastards" Jam A quick jam in Darlington's chord changes talking about the people who didn't get tickets in time for these sold-out shows. The first verse/chorus was Murray without instruments, the rest was with Dave's bassline and Murray played a great electric guitar solo. You could hear a pin falling through the air for this song!! I just wish i > could slap the smug, self-righteous sarcasm right off > of your ignorant face! First of all, you ever get the feeling you backed the wrong horse? The public face the Patrick chooses to wear is quite different from the impression he gave me in a private email a few days ago. Forget it, I never really "took sides" to begin with, but this particular peace maker is turning in _her_ olive branch. Second of all, jen... the greatest insult you can do to an antagonizer is ignore him or her. If he is indeed baiting you, why rise to the occasion? Besides which, take it to email... the post is directed _to_ him, so just email it to him. Third, someone always asks me why specifically I like the band. For those of you with chips on your shoulders (on BOTH sides of the argument, not singling out anyone), perhaps you should consider your motives in being so blindly argumentative and defensive. Is it because the band is being insulted, or because you are taking it as a personal insult against who you perceive yourself to be? I'm sure the members of the band themselves get a great deal of criticism, not all of it eloquent or constructive and a good deal of it insulting. They don't choose to make personal attacks in public forums on a regular basis, unless they can get a laugh out of the crowd thus proving that they find the person making such comments _laughable_. Just leave it alone... all of it. - --Angie, pissed off that Katrin and Mocksie felt they had to leave, pissed off that someone who I gave the benefit of the doubt is unintentionally (I hope) making me look like an idiot, pissed off that it feels like every other person in this ng is losing their mind... everyone in the world is losing their mind (yes, generalization... not meant seriously). The next thought was that, okay, three of the four look content. Murray looks, well, he looks more like he belongs in a Calvin Klein ad. My conclusion: A good shot overall. And now for a total change of topic: Independence Day. I was thinking it would be really cool if the guys shared the main tune in that song, a couple of lines here, a couple of lines there. It would change the slant a bit. To me it would suggest that there was more than one person in the Independence Day crowd "celebrating independence", rather than Murray alone.
