It's nonfiction. It's entitled, _Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies_, by Jared Diamond. It's a multidisciplinary look at the factors which caused different human societies to develop at different rates, therefore giving certain folks the abilities to colonize others. It's considered to be a great argument against that other book we know and love, _The Bell Curve._ I recommend it for everyone. The book I read before this was incredible, too. It's also nonfiction. It's entitled, _A Border Passage_, by Leila Ahmed. In it she recounts her childhood growing up in Egypt, describing how she was affected by such forces as imperialism, colonialism, sexism, racism, and prejudice against her for being Muslim. It's a wonderful read and she is an incredible woman. BTW, she is now a professor of Women's Studies at UMass. For that I'd go to Jersey. *I* think they should pack a load of the cds and bring them to Falcon Ridge for an early, on-site release. EFO has released some of their new cds early. I mean the release date reflects when they'll be released by the major distributors right? The fact that I'm planning to be at Falcon Ridge has *nothing* to do with why I think they should do this however :) I just think they shouldn't miss out on the opportunities to sell lots of them at the festival... that's all :) - -- Trace trace@frumail.org *sniff* Target is within sniffing range.
