I LOVE EM! they are soo cool...i got into them two summers ago when my friend came and visited me...he was like, hey, check out this band my sister put on my tape for the bus ride...that was it, i was hooked...i soon bought bargainville, then later wood, then i bought live noise at halloween. The RIT concert was my fav, just cuz at halloween, i was sorta upset, cause it was my 1st real show, and i wish i heard moxy songs instead of covers...but it was still really cool. but anyway, the RIT concert was my fav cuz of that, but also, i was visiting RIT, cuz i am going there next year...but it was such a great surprise, as well as a "welcoming to rochester" to see that they were playing. The lightsaber thing was great. I still have not met the band, and i really would hope to do so soon, at least before 2000. well, thanks for your time...hope to see you at some shows...i will unfortunetly miss the two shows at house of blues, but hopefully will make it to the festivals.... see you on ammf, Josh ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Apr 1999 22:10:13 -0400 From: Matthew Wiser Subject: Re: Underage Drinking and such petit_chou@juno.com wrote: > You know I'm behind you on this more than, perhaps, anyone else on this > newsgroup ("my dad is a judge" ring any bells?). The only part of the judical system I have a problem with would be the Supreme Court, and in fact have great respect for the lower courts. The reason that the Supreme Court has such problems is because it isn't the best legal minds, but those who can be counted on to support the President who nominated them's policy. Secondly, I am involved with poltics, even if not a specific party. I do call my congressman and write to the Govenor. Sorry if I came off as being against all of the American legal system. Sorry if I came off as being against >all of the American legal system. > Matt, who's afraid of the drinking this Saturday after Fruvous man i am just asking for a severe punishing beating or something. must have something to do with the embarassment i got at singing into a microphone that was slightly too hot and cracking a low note. oh man did i turn rouge... of course, it means that you're not gonna get outta this one so easily, matt. (: for starters, if i remember correcltly, there is currently only one supreme court justice appointed to the aforementioned supreme court at this time who was appointed by our currently president. aside from that nomination, i can almost guarantee that they are not making their voting decisions based on how much the currently president of any era is going to like it. the fact that a president is a wonderful figurehead and representative of the people, voted for by the people, does not mean that he _is_ the people. never forget that. moving along in those regards, those who are on the supreme court are most likely those who have devoted their lives to the study and pursuit of law. (as opposed to the pursuit of other things that i choose not to get into at this moment). i compliment your efforts to contact your local government representatives. i encourage it, in fact. if heather moore could clarify anything i may have said wrong, i encourage to rip me a new one in the delicate way which she has so aptly and often displayed *grin*. take a real good look at the supreme court before you condemn them to death by popular vote. (: fruvous related stuff (just so it looks like something is happening) -- has anyone heard a peep outta jordan from denver the last day or two? call it a paranoia, but after reading newspaper articles about the shooting recently in denver, i'm moderately worried that something may be wrong. jordan, if you're peeking in, lemme know you're ok. aside from all that, who is my first victim at syracuse? -= george =- yeah heather, i'm somewhat posting at the moment. the topic piqued my interest. (: i'll be home soon enough, and you'll be away at camp, so we'll manage to miss each other again. if it's any consolation, i can't go home to seattle for the show that they are playing there. anyone wanna organize a fund to send the norg home? (: ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Apr 1999 23:34:53 -0400 From: Kate Bunting Subject: Re: Underage Drinking and such I suppose I should count myself as lucky to have found the FruFour shortly after my 21st birthday, so the venue issue was just barely not an inconvenience. With regard to Norg's comments: I wouldn't object to the semantics and legal points of the consitution, and I don't disagree that I am singularly unqualified to interpret them, not being educated in that field, per se. However, I do see the difficulty with the haziness around the venues; if one is under 21, and has no interest in drinking, and a sole interest in seeing the band, it is most unfortunate that this is not possible. I agree that this is, in fact, virtually-impossible to regulate, and finding loopholes in the laws is not necessarily in the best interest of the American people. But you can't fault folks who are underaged for being frustrated with the whole thing! > it's not personal, it's just that whenever früvous plays a venue that's 21+, > there's a huge uproar from the under-21 crowd. And, ~~kate, my kinswoman (in name, if nothing else!) I whole-heartedly agree that the country's discrepancies in deciding when we are adults 15+/- Learner's Permit (varies by state) 16 to drive 18 to vote, and to register for selective service & armed forces 18 to buy cigarettes, another chemical 21 to drink alcohol don't make a whole lot of sense.
