As I read over my response before sending, I realized that some people might take me as really adamant and crabby and mean or something, and I just want to say that that isn't my intent. I'm just trying to show that I didn't jump to the "Chris is a pretty boy" conclusion with one glance. So here's what I wrote: Let me begin by saying that I thoroughly enjoy the PushStars music and purchased both the album and the EP at the concert. These are good guys (side note to ladywench: you can hear a lot more of cutie pie drummer's harmonies on the albums). I was merely commenting on their personas on stage, and later when I met them. I thought it was extremely uncool when Chris (lead singer, pretty-boy in question) seemed to downplay his bandmates' importance. Oh, you want examples? Sure! 1) The bass was making lots of weird feedback-y noises, so he said, "ah, who needs bass anyway." Funny enough, sure, but then later, he kept hammering away with not needing a bass or Dan. Rude. 2) Chris introduced the bassist. Someone yelled for him to intro the drummer (who'd been getting the short end of the stick all night) and he said, "oh, that's Eddie Vedder. He used to play for this Seattle band that was kinda popular." And that's it. After the laughs, he just stood there...AND DIDN'T INTRODUCE THE DRUMMER! After an extremely long and noticeable pause, the bassist jumps in and intros our beloved drummer (at which point my entire row showed our appreciation for the "little guy"). This is not cool. That isn't enough? Well, I also decided to give Chris another chance. The band was in the lobby-ish area and I decided to try for some signatures. Chris was surrounded by screaming teenage girls, but the other two were relatively alone. I approached Dan. His eyes lit up, he shook my hand, asked my name, said of course he would sign my album, and proceeded to talk to me about where I was from and the show and touring with GBS and their plans for solo tours and all sorts of things for quite a while. He had excellent eye-contact the whole time and was really warm to me. He then passed the CD to Ryan, who also shook my hand and gave me a smile and we chatted a little more. They were both extremely friendly and focused on conversing. That was so cool. Then I went over to Chris. AND WAITED IN LINE. Okay, so I tried not to let it bug me that he was the one who got all the chicks. When it was my turn, he shook my hand, thanked me for coming out, signed my CD, and despite me being the only person around him at the moment, made no starts at conversation and was looking around the room. Thanks a lot. Now, I'm not saying the guy needs to have a deep conversation with me, but a "thanks for coming out," or "hope to see you at another show," or something equally trite would have been nice. In conclusion, I just wanted to say that, I really LIKE the Push Stars. They make some really fun, poppy music that I enjoy. I especially loved Chris' hair and his suit (it was *NICE*). But...he still struck me as someone who thinks he's more important than his bandmates in the band. True, that's just my feeling, but I'm entitled to it.
