[1] his malleability of character (spidey, lou, etc.), his conductive powers of reasoning (the way he jumps to topics far afield in his onstage conversations) and musicality (is it just me, or is he usually the one to jump to a musical improv?). ok, so this one got a little silly in its attempt to be metaphoric. i drained my literary skills in my *fifteen-minute* timed gov't essay today. ugh. moving on... water--> dave. he takes many forms (keyboard, accordian, banjo, guitar), flowing with ease from one to the other. he tackles every genre of song, from witty to lyric and back again. plus, ah, from his beverages of choice one might peg dave as a "wet" kind of fellow... *grin* ok, that's fruvous, elementally-speaking. so, katrin--how'd this compare to *your* thoughts? ^kat^ "we'll have tomorrow..." http://fly.to/the.midway.after.dark [1] ...and were i to substitute "air" instead of "metal" for mike, i think the analogy would still work. but i won't try and wax poetic on it as i did above. i'll save it for the fruhead lit journal [2]. I love this idea. I love love love it. But, there are a few things. Um, who decides what goes in? Or should we scrap the idea of editors all together and instead just allow one or two submissions from all who are "in the know" (i.e. those of us on the ng and IRC -- do we wanna post it on FDC?)? If we have editors, who decides A) who's an editor and B) what to edit. I mean, I can see people freaking out in the case of their pieces not being found "acceptable for publication." And in terms of medium, if we do it print, who covers printing cost? Or should it be on a "order and pay and then we print one up for you and you get it" basis? That sounds good to me. We should price them so they cover printing costs, but no more (unless we wanna give a donation to the FruCon III fund). Also, I don't think they should be sold exclusively at FruCon III, cause not everyone will be their. They should probably just be available on an "ask for one" basis. Should they have a limited run (i.e. -- they are sold over the course of one month only or something)? Let's talk binding. We can easily set this baby up in traditional zine fashion in a half-fold (standard letter paper folded in half "hamburger-wise") and production would be fairly painless. Setting two columns on a landscape oriented page is not difficult (though I'd recommend Page Maker and not Word, which is not fit for such projects), and once the masters have been made, it won't be a problem. Well, that's in terms of text only, which will be fairly painless. When artwork comes into play, then we've got a whole new ball of wax. Should people send their originals (freaky idea)? If they send photocopies, then photocopying those produces POOPY quality, and one of the only ways around that is a professional printing (read: PRICEY). A cover shouldn't be too hard (except deciding on who does the artwork...KATRIN?). How do we decide on layout (as in, who's poems go where ahead of whose etc etc - -- this is really important if you're of the mind, as I am, that the order is crucial. The first and last poems are especially important)? I'm certain I can think of more questions, but has anyone else thought about *logistic* stuff here?
