How did that get put together? >2) what is your favorite song/lyric or all time and why?( doesn't have to be >frü, but i have a feeling that some of them might be:) This is very hard. I finally settled on a winner, with runners up. :) 1.) Dar Williams "As Cool as I am"-- 'You tried to make me doubt, to make me guess, Tried to make me feel like a little less. Well, I liked you when your soul was bare, I thought you knew how to be scared... and it's amazing what you did to make me stay, But truth is just like time, it catches up and it just keeps going.' (the rest of the song, too!!) 2.) Moxy Fruvous "Follow the Road" I'm still not sure if this is actually an offical Fruvous song, since I think Jian's been the only one performing it so far... but it's the only song I know that makes me cry (and *every* time I hear it). (As someone who has millions of songs running through my head constantly, plus harmonies, tabulature, and percussion parts... that's very significant to me) 3.) Indigo Girls "Mystery" This song fit with all of my relationships, and how I feel in Autumn, and love-- I think it's beautifully put together. 4.) Simon&Garfunkel "A Simple Desaultry Philippic (Or How I was Robert McNamera'd into Submission)' If you don't know this song, go find it NOW! 5.) Dan Bern "Jersualem" Not only is this one of the best songs ever, but I die at the line: 'I like Olives." (I'm in the mailing list, and they sent this to everyone) There will be no Früvous or Arrogant Worms... Which is a surprise to me... the Worms were probably the most popular there! (Früvous was there the year before as well, so the audience had been spoiled) The year 2000 will bring Summerfolk's 25th anniversary, so they are saving up as much money as they can. ARTISAN - Jacey Bedford & company from England. Artisan was forced to cancel an appearance at Summerfolk last year due to illness. CHUCK BRODSKY STACEY EARLE - daughter of Steve Earle ANNIE GALLUP HEARTBREAK HILL - bluegrass sensations DANNY MARKS - CBC listeners will recognize Danny as "The Human Jukebox" on the Hum-Line KAREN SAVOCA - return of a favourite from last year. RICHARD WOOD - East Coast fiddling with a modern twist! KATHERINE WHEATLEY - daughter of Chris Wheatley and Caitlin Hanford SAM BAARDMAN UZUME TAIKO - Japanese drumming and performance art RIK EMMETT - yes, Rik was in the rock band TRIUMPH, but will be showing off his solo acoustic side. A definite must see for guitarists and everyone else. GEORGE GAO ENSEMBLE - traditional instruments and songs from the Orient. CONNIE KALDOR - Connie has been to many Summerfolks, and we welcome back a perennial crowd pleaser. NICKEL CREEK - Chris Thiele and co. return after last year's highlight show. VOX VIOLINS CELSO MACHADO - latin guitar work presented in a dramatic style. NJACKO BACKO - African storytelling and children's entertainment BOURQUE, BERNARD & LEPAGE - You might remember Benoit Bourque from previous Summerfolk appearances with Eritage! Quebecois music and dance. THE JIM CUDDY BAND- Jim usually performs with BLUE RODEO. RAY BONNEVILLE - Blues and country from an excellent guitarist DOUG COX FIREWEED TIM HARRISON - This year we can sing the SUMMERFOLK SONG again, with the man who started it all in 1976. RICHARD KNECHTEL - local fave from Walkerton, aka Dicky Bird.
