A little research will reveal that he has used this pseudonym on other books. So why did he do this? Well, just as in the movie, the book is a story within a story. The book is told from a first person perspective, as if Goldman's father were reading him this fictitious book by S. Morgenstern and cutting out the boring parts. Years later, Goldman writes down the story that he remembers which is, of course, only "The Good Parts." It's all part of the story. The actual title of the book is "The Princess Bride: S. Morgenstern's Classic Tale of True Love and High Adventure: The 'Good Parts' Version, Abridged." - -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 5 Feb 1999 18:19:16 -0500 From: "Steve" Subject: Too Weird... In a (not completely) unrelated note, I saw Dan Bern last night at the Bottom Line again, with Jill Sobukle. It was a really good show, but the energy of the crowd was *minute* compared to last time. These were NOT folks much taken with the idea of the sing-along, which wouldn't have been so bad if he hadn't kept insisting the audience provide vocal backup. But it was fun. Though I'm not aware of any MIDI keyboards Roland makes that are that small. I know Yamaha made and still makes a few MIDI keyboard controllers that are tiny like that. I do know this. The Synth sounds that are being produced are not from the keyboard but from an EMU Vintage Synth module that is mounted in the rack they have on stage behind them. It is connected via MIDI to the small controller keyboard they use. It has some killer sounds on it. On the album version of "Michigan Militia" they use a Vintage Moog Minimoog Synth.....very very cool. But live they use a small controller (mabye Roland) and that long cable that runs from it to the rack is plugged into an EMU Vintage Synth mod. I was trying to find a used one for Joe Perry of Aerosmith a couple months ago. They are hard to come by becuase they were discontinued about 2 years ago.3 See ya ll at FruCon -Zippy - -----Original Message----- From: hKath Newsgroups: alt.music.moxy-fruvous To: ammf@fruvous.com Date: Thursday, February 04, 1999 11:34 PM Subject: Re: Dayton Review (long as usual) >In article <79dia8$d06$1@winter.news.rcn.net>, > "KatieWow" wrote: >> ummm . . . i haven't read the rest of the posts yet, so someone else may >> have brought this up, but . . . >> are you sure it's not a _roland_ electric keyboard with some kind of >> alteration made to it to make it say poland? as i remember from AP european >> history, the polish are far more renowned for their sausage than for their >> electronics, so i think if the guys were going to spring for a keyboard, >> they'd probably go with one not made in countries once in the communist bloc >> :). > >Don't worry, it's a Roland keyboard, the guys didn't go out and buy some sort >of freaky unknown thingee... So, when I am asked about my favorite band, I answer that it's Moxy. Notice the denial I'm having. And weren't they just AMAZING doing those Beatles songs at NoHo? I closed my eyes and found a completely different dimension... I hovered somewhere between a Beatles concert and a Moxy concert, and between the Beatle nut I once was and the Moxy freak I am now. I told Mike and Dave how happy it made me to hear them sing Beatles songs. I sure hope to hear them sing "That Boy" at least once more in this lifetime.
