With FDC down, dunno if people are checking tour dates and such. So here's some possibly helful info regarding some February tour dates. Tickets for the February 15th Fruvous show at the Michigan Theatre in Ann Arbor are on sale now through Ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster outlets. This show in NOT general admission. It's a soft-seater venue like the Keswick in Philly was. Ticketmaster.com doesn't do well with assigned seating (at least to my taste), so I'd highly recommend calling your local Ticketmaster to get tickets so you can request exact seats. If I hadn't called, I would have gotten the right section but an aisle. Instead, I called and got the center of the row to which was nice. There's a seating chart on Ticketmaster's site at http://www.ticketmaster.com/venue/DET/39/ . Also, tickets for the Martyr's shows in Chicago are both on sale through Ticketmaster and Ticketmaster.com. Martyr's is general admission and I *think* smaller than the Metro, but there's 2 days. - Chad ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 07 Jan 2000 11:34:20 -0500 From: Chad Maloney Subject: [FAQ] FAQ Availability with FDC down Greetings, With Fruvous Dot Com down or under-construction or what not, the alt.music.moxy-fruvous FAQ is currently unavailable. For reservations call 1-800-387-8687 during business hours 9-5 Mon - Fri (Eastern Time) or (416) 977-0707 at other times. The people who answer the toll-free number after-hours won't have access to this special rate. So, to recap: The FruCon committee recommends two hotels: 1) Courtyard Marriott on Yonge Street. This is where the Con itself will be. FruCon rate is CDN$134/night but lower rates may be available if you ask for a Winter Special or other deal. 2) Colony Hotel near City Hall. FruCon rate is CDN$109/night. Both hotels are large, nice and centrally located. This is an important message for anyone who lives in the Pittsburgh area and has recently shopped at the Record Exchange in Squirrel Hill for Moxy Früvous CDs. Feb. 19 starting at about 11am at the Marriott Courtyard hotel at 475 Yonge Street in downtown Toronto. Because it's a really NICE hotel, the room rates are a little steep (ranging from CDN$99-$149 a night or so, mostly at the higher end of that range). Unlike last year, our arrangement with this hotel does not require us to book a certain number of sleeping rooms in order to get the ballroom for our event. If the lower rates are not available, ask for the FruCon rate, which is CDN$134/night. Courtyard's phone is (416)924-0611 or (800)321-2211. For those who prefer something a bit less pricey, the FruCon committee is recommending the Colony Hotel. It's a few blocks from the Courtyard and convenient to transportation, ice skating, cool record stores, etc. It's at 89 Chestnut Street and the phone is (416)977-0707. We're still working on confirming a FruCon discount but the rate should be no higher than CDN$119/night. While the Con itself will be at the Courtyard, we're expecting that the meeting point for some of the satellite events (Hockey Hall of Fame tour, Fru Brew-pub crawl, etc.) will be the Colony since that's where we figure most of us will stay. Both hotels are in good locations and have lots of services, food options, etc. They are both larger and nicer than our location for the first two FruCons. If reservations clerks at either place are confused about FruCon, try to book a room at a "winter special" rate. The Courtyard's Winter Special is lower than the FruCon rate. There is additional hotel information on http://www.fruhead.com/frucon/ including hostel suggestions. Keep an eye on fruhead.com for FruCon updates.
