Great read. I've got fond memories of going to a Douglas Adams booksigning at Kane Hall (University of Washington) and listening to him read from that book.... unfortunately, he'd thrown out his back that day and was feeling out of sorts, but he read and talked and signed books for everyone anyway, for which he earned my everlasting respect. One of my biggies is "The Point". This was a wonderful little cartoon, with music by Harry Nilsson, about a little roundheaded kid who was the outcast in a land where everything else (including the people) was pointed. I saw it and loved it as a kid, and for years I've been asking people if they remembered it - no one had. I'd almost started wondering if I'd imagined the whole thing, except I really didn't think I was clever enough to make all that up - until I started seeing those car commercials featuring the song "Me and My Arrow". Still nobody else believed me about where it came from. It wasn't until Harry Nilsson died a few years ago that "The Point" got a little bit of press, and I felt somewhat vindicated. I told my brother-in-law this whole story, and of course he didn't remember the cartoon either, but he did manage to find the soundtrack of "The Point" on CD, and he gave it to me this last Xmas. It's got quite a few more drug-related references than I remembered from childhood, but still a very sweet story about being different and fitting in and accepting others for who they are. k@ Darn, and now I can't find that CD to look for a quote! ------------------------------ Date: 27 Jan 1999 02:04:31 GMT From: elrond@fellspt.charm.net (Matt James) Subject: Re: DC show info ALeigh992 (aleigh992@aol.comBROCCOLI) wrote: : >Call the 9:30 Club and request theat they book : >DA VINCI'S NOTEBOOK to open that night-- great buncha guys, fantastic a : >cappella tunes, and much, much humor rolled into one cool quartet! : That's a wonderful idea!!
