Some of us are getting together before the show and eating at a great ethiopian restaurant not too far from the concert site. I think it's about 9 blocks. For those who are interested here is the info: The Red Sea 2463 18th St. NW Washington DC (202)483-5000 It is located just off Kolorama triangle and there is parking lot nearby. I don't know about access from the subway since I always drive there. The food is fabulous and the company will be entertaining. You can find maps online at www.mapquest.com For snacking after the show I can also reccomend a great place in Chinatown called The Ruby which is open til 3:00am on Fridays and they do very good dim-sum. The neighborhood is fine as long as you go in groups. I've gone many many times and always late at night (after midnight) and had no problems. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 16 Jan 1999 18:37:26 -0700 From: katrin@dimensional.com (Katrin Luessenheide Salyers) Subject: Hitchhiker's Guide (was Red Dwarf, and before that Loudon Wainwright) In article <77rcl5$e46$1@winter.news.rcn.net>, kleahy@loyola.edu says... > "the ships hung in the air exactly the same way bricks don't." > --douglas adams, "hitchhiker's guide" I must have missed this part of the thread too, though I'd been thinking a lot about those books of late, and a few things have occurred to me: 1. I seem to be missing at least two of them from my collection, which I just now learned after searching for a certain quote. 2. They really ought to have an index (y'know, like Lord of the Rings does) specifically for that purpose, since I can never remember exactly where to find the perfectly appropriate quotes that I'm looking for. 3. The Total Perspective Vortex, as painful and devastating an experience as it would be, probably isn't such a bad thing, and it might do me well to go through its equivalent a little more often. Though I think I've had my fill of it lately. 4. The bit on page 126 of "So Long..." about Mark Knopfler really is true, and it's been way too long since I listened to any Dire Straits. k@ Now if only all this perspective I've gained would help me to draw a decent background ------------------------------ Date: 17 Jan 1999 02:35:26 GMT From: dalevy@aol.com (DALevy) Subject: Re: Transportation in Toronto...
