Augh! Can you imagine the massive coronary that I was going through? Jeez. Not good. Then, as I'm checking 'em all out carefully, I note the lovely shot of Murray on his own (during Authors, I believe) where he is looking particularly good (Lori, you must see it). I look more closely. I look at the group shot at the end of that night (labeled *great* band shot NYE)...did Murray cut his hair? It was looking quite nice. Maybe it was just all sweaty so it was sitting down, but it looked different than other pics I've seen. Certainly, it is none of my business to keep tabs on his hair maintenance schedule, however when I note a good thing, I like to know if it is a temporary anomaly or a more permanent bit of loveliness. The bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. The lower price on early-bought tickets is to get people to buy early. Early-bought tickets benefit the venues in several ways. If it's extra cold outside or rainy on the day of the show, some people will stay away if they don't already have tickets. In business, getting money sooner is always better, even if it's a little less money; the cash-flow benefits outweigh the discount. Don't think of it as jacking the price up as the show nears, think of it as a discount if you buy early. See? Now you don't feel so ripped off. Just feel like a laggard for not getting your tickets early :D In a world of "perfect information", as the economists like to say, everyone knows well ahead of time when shows they'd like to see are happening, and everyone has money at the right time to buy tickets early, and so makes rational decisions about when to get tickets. Isn't economics a gas? The fanbase must > be growing more and more. I'm sure the fan base is growing, but the Bayou is no longer. It closed last week after 60 or so years as a nightclub. It's going to be a parking garage. The new 9:30 is a little bigger than the Iron Horse, similar layout except that the balcony wraps around three sides. I guess it seats around 500-600. There's nothing wrong with the 9:30 club, it's got a decent selection of beers and more room on the floor than the Bayou; but I can't say I'm happy about the change. Folks who frequent the 9:30 lean toward cute moves like crowd surfing, and copious pushing and screaming. Suffice it to say that I'd like nothing better than to see all the tickets bought by local Fru people and their friends, and out-of-towners. BTW, a note for folks who might be coming in for this show, the club is not in a great part of town, and Metro stops running at midnight. However, cabs abound; I recommend them highly. - --Amanda - -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 07 Jan 1999 10:00:42 -0600 From: Josh Drury Subject: Re: lyrics Colleen Campbell wrote: > > > In case this hasn't already been answered, I *believe* it's "Angel of > Harlem," by U2. I'm not on it, so dunno what it tells you ;) Dan Bern Fan Mailing List: dan-bern-list-request@eskimo.com Send email with subscribe in the subject line. The list is medium traffic to me. Dan content ranges a lot, but there is usually a good polical debate going on at any given time. Also lotsa talk about smaller scale artists, what the artist wants and just general good stuff to listen in on. Normally every couple weeks, there's good profanity fest usually centered around Luther, but you'll have to come over to the dan-bern list to see what that is all about. But mostly, the place is different. There are a couple cross overs to here (and it seems Mitch (Harf away!) is on the TMBG list, the Dan list, and here now) but mostly the atmosphere is different. I'd highly recommend some lurking over there to check it out though if you got the time. There are a lot of good people and discussions. He's standing behind a podium with a microphone. He can pump his fist and everything, but he doesn't do a great job of staying upright. When my friend Tino first investigated this figure, he remarked that it had been "made without any irony at all." Tobey remarked that it should be fashioned from a Trigger figure; I'm not sure what he meant by that, though it seemed funny at the time. Topic-related content: Not that I want to see these particular dolls, but the Mike figure must come with a pen and notebook and a grey fedora, not to mention Blue Blockers.
