I've never been there, but I hear that concerts are put on there once in a while. Also, the Dome Arena seems to be booking more concerts lately. - -- Tom "Some things can be done, as well as others." - --Sam Patch http://www.frontiernet.net/~tkieslin Shilfiell Nels Rada wrote in message ... > >It's getting a bit tough in downtown Rochester, though....the Water St. >Music Hall might get shut down due to the ultra-violence occurring there, >the Renaissance/Heaven/Spectrum/New York Nights changes management more >often than I change hair care products (and it's haunted, you know), the >Aud is seated-only (bleh) and the Corporate Sponsorship Memorial is just >too darn big. Porcello" Subject: Rochester locations for future Fru-shows The Dome Arena is not made for sound. It would be profane for a group like Moxy Fruvous to play there. The Armory isn't a bad bet, though. I'm all for the Theater On The Ridge on West Ridge Road. When Tori Amos was there some years ago in an acoustic gig it was dynamic. Not a bad sized place, and good acoustics. The theatre at Hochstein's School of Music would be ideal, as would Nazereth College (Wilmont Hall would be my first choice there). Heck, why not Kilborne Hall at the Eastman School of Music? Just a few suggestions. Well, to make a long story short.... The reason Jian (and just about everyone who cares about small communities) hates starbucks is that they are a large chain. They come into any fast-growing community with lots of small independantly-run coffee houses and undercut that competition.... causing the smaller (nicer) businesses to either close down, or raise raise their prices, which in the end hurts the community either way. It's the same reason so many people hate things like Media Play... who put indie record shops out of business. Chain stores of that sort have made a career of taking a small, growing community and turning it into an ex-industrial wasteland. (Am I spouting? ) What it comes down to is: Support your community..... and business owners who care about the community..... not people who are just there to make a quick buck. Love ya, folks.... Nate (Sure I'm getting overly emotional about this... but I've only gotten 6 hours sleeep in the past few days, so cut me some slack...) DeRose.
