The nields are great, if you've got the cash, go out to your local music emporium and grab play.. its a great disc(although like fruvous they are MUCH better live). Jess Klein sang Summertime from Porgy and Bess by Gershwin. If you've got some more cash, get the Miles Davis version of this musical, its well worth it.. Their rendition sent shivers up my spine in many ways... mostly because I love the song, but also because I had been whistling it all weekend... freeky. Your first concert will be painless, and I bet you'll enjoy it terribly! And don't worry if you don;t know all their stuff, they usually do a good job of playing stuff off of all their albums! I am someone who wrote Rush lyrics on blackboards in High School in order to appear not only cryptic but philosophical as well, but it doesn't seem to have gotten *me* any closer to my idols. Perhaps Mike had some other tricks up his sleeve. The whole brush-with-greatness thing, I totally get it. I won't bore you with stories about my first husband, but suffice it to say that Todd Rundgren is involved. (& my ex was/is definitely a dweeb!) You are so right; it feels, well, *weird*. I actually just called the Harro East to double check that there would be no pesky folding chairs (answer was no) and what time the door should open (answer 7pm). Seven, all you Fruheads! (Think of Friday's show if this doesn't make sense to you). After a very long time of reading the ng without posting anything, this weekend's events have finally given me something worth posting, so here it is: First, I want to say that I had a *fanatasically wonderful* time in NoHo this weekend and I couldn't have expected better for my first two Fruvous shows. (I'm in the process of writing a "review" (me just raving about the shows :) so that'll be posted later). The main reason for this post is to thank all the Fruheads who I met for the first time in real life this weekend. :) I was sort of nervous on friday about meeting so many of you all at once but it faded quickly :) Extra-special thanks to hKatherine, Marie-Claude, Hugo, Sheryl, Chris (Moz), and Rob, and to all the other IRCer's I met this weekend. :) Without many of you, the trip might not have been possible, or at least wouldn't have been nearly as fun. :) See you guys in real life again soon hopefully, JeffD (Gobo on IRC) dallien@cs.concordia.ca - -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V1 #925 ********************************************
